Buddhists are the best colleagues

Recommended Posts

I work as a software developer at a very busy small company. The Head Honcho of the development department is a buddhist.

Consider the following situation:

Me: " "Uhm. Uh oh. Hm."
Him: "Is that concern in your voice?"
"Uhm...the bug I mentioned I had fixed? It just sent randomized letters out into an email form."
Him: "Yeah? It did that before too. It's not very well behaved at all"
"Me: "Nope. And I looped through the user emails in the database for that newsletter feature we talked about."
Him: "That's interesting"
Me: "Uhm. Ehm. Well, it is sort of interesting. I think all users just got a Love Letter from me"
Him: "Oh. Maybe you should correct the error."
Me: "Yeah."
Him: "Love is good, you know".

The Big Boss wasn't as impressed and forced me to do a "Sorry!" cleanup response. And put me on Support duty too .

Buddhists are cool people. Patient, helpful, focusing on the good in man. And forgiving of major mistakes :P. Most of the people in leadership positions in the IT business tend to be either full of hype, out of touch or way too engrossed in their career - not this guy. He just does the Mantra thing.

Oh, got the bug fixed in 20 seconds afterwards :P

I then spent the food break discussing with him whether computer bugs couldn't be considered a future form of life, and therefore be accepted as a part of the whole General Mish Mash B|

I like buddhists. It's not even necessarily a religion, but if I had to be forced into organized spirituality, buddhism would be the way to go for me
