No way in hell the USSS presidential detail is going to go anywhere unarmed. At every Embassy overseas, there's a detachment of highly trained/armed/motivated Marines. Then add Diplomatic Security Service agents, FBI agents (all armed)... So, why the hoopla about a few dozen extra USSS guys for a few days? I guarantee the USAF Air Force 1 Security Forces guys will "dissuade" anyone from trying to disarm them... Unreal...
ChasingBlueSky 0 #3 March 25, 2004 Seems the Irish are playing hardball. Good for them. Nothing wrong with that - giving GW a taste of his own medicine. Ireland is a sovereign nation and wants to enforce it's own laws. We would do the same if a leader came over here ready to break our laws. Oh. I'm guessing if GW was a bit more diplomatic his counterparts in Europe would be more welcoming. This is what you get when you piss off the majority of the world. Question: Do you post every news story that you come across?_________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Andrewwhyte 1 #4 March 25, 2004 Whenever the US president visits Canada, Canadian security provides protection for our guests. The American bodyguards turn over their firearms when they enter. Then they go into a private room with packages someone brought in diplomatic pouches. I'm not sure what's in them.

They are trying to get elected after all. Second....I resent the fact that a foreign leader expects us to allow his boys to walk around my home town with guns and fly fighters over my head. I doubt you'd like it either. There are gonna be plenty of people on the streets in Dublin to voice the same opinion. Poor auld Kennedy...we liked that lad.
