AggieDave 6 #1 March 24, 2004 Do you know how f**king hard it is to find one of those? They quit making them and my fiance really would like one, I've called just about everyone and can't find one anywhere! I've even checked with other suppliers, like skate shops, whitewater rafting, etc. Ok, I just had to rant!--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." DShiznit 0 #2 March 24, 2004 I know someone that has one, used, that isn't in use.
AggieDave 6 #3 March 24, 2004 Really? Hmmmm...PM me the info, cost, size if that person is wanting to part with it.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
ACMESkydiver 0 #4 March 24, 2004 Purple...mmm/my favorite color!!! Purple purple purple... Only reason my rig isn't purple is 'cause the Triathlon purple and rig purple didn't match. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. DShiznit 0 #5 March 24, 2004 Dunno if he wants to part ways with it, but I'll check with him in the next day or so.
skybytch 273 #6 March 24, 2004 Good luck finding a new fullcut Protec in any color other than black... they don't exist anymore AFAIK.
AggieDave 6 #7 March 24, 2004 Yeah, but I was calling around to try to find one on someone's shelf collecting dust. Oh, you can get the water version (different padding) in yellow, royal blue and white as well.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." DrunkMonkey 0 #8 March 24, 2004 Why a Pro-Tec? They may be cheap, but they also look so. The helmets from Bonehead are soo much more comfortable, and I surmise promise the same level of protection...
skybytch 273 #9 March 24, 2004 QuoteI surmise promise the same level of protection... Not even close. If protecting your head from an impact is what you want, the Protec is the hot tip. If you just want to protect your head from scrapes on the door or ground then any of the skydiving specific helmets are great - but none of them have been tested to prove that they provide any impact protection at all. Brains 2 #10 March 24, 2004 I found a Pink one for you. That is as close as i could get. I will keep looking for you though. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
AggieDave 6 #11 March 24, 2004 QuoteI surmise promise the same level of protection Actually, no, Pro-Tecs are actually CE rated. She wants a protec because she likes it and that's what we can afford. She'll probably get something else later.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
AggieDave 6 #12 March 24, 2004 We found some white ones we could paint, but I have a feeling that the paint wouldn't last real long and end up looking like shit.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
Gawain 0 #13 March 24, 2004 Someone on here did some painted design work on a Pro-Tec (I can't remember exactly who/when) recently (the purpose to have a cool looking helmet that didn't cost $300). Perhaps you can use their example, buy a white Pro-Tec and then paint it. Based on the guys description of what he did, etc. It didn't seem like too big an effort, and the cost was minimal. Edit to add: He had some additives too to make it permanent. I don't know...just throwing ideas. Just buy her a purple Z1... So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Nightingale 0 #21 March 24, 2004 easy way to get a purple pro-tec. 1. buy a protec. any color will do. 2. call Robert at Ground Zero at Elsinore, and ask him how much it will cost for him to paint it purple (and maybe do something cool too!) or PM "Screwbag" on DZ.com. 3. send the helmet and cash to the address he gives you. 4. wait for a bit. 5. check your mailbox and collect box when it arrives. 6. open box 7. wear helmet! AggieDave 6 #22 March 24, 2004 What if I don't want to open the box first? Huh, have you ever thought of that?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
freeflygoddess 0 #23 March 24, 2004 Yes, I took my white helmet and turned it into a holographic purplr one...see pic...It was very cheap and easy, you too can do it with any color! I bought these do-it-yourself sticker sheets from the 99cent store and cut them into small squares and put them on, they are holding up really well, but tileing them would have been better, but atleast when they fall off it will still look cool, and it is cheap enough that I can keep doing it to it too... edited cause i picked the wrong pic...try the last one...
