jceman 1 #1 March 25, 2004 A quick question to those who have asked why the Forums are moderated as they are or why a certain action was taken -- have you contributed anything to HH in return for using his site? Have you made any meaningful contributions to any threads in the topical forums? Or have you tried to get around the moderator(s)' actions by starting another thread on the same subject as the one that got locked/deleted? Or just gave the mods grief over it, despite repeated threads telling you not to do so? Not all the rules are gathered into one neat little bundle, but they are spelled out somewhere in the forums in unambiguous posts. Repeated explanations should not be needed by adults, even if they are skydivers. And that's all I've got to say about that.
chaoskitty 0 #2 March 25, 2004 On the other hand... An explanation to the offender as to WHY (assuming its not obvious.. like a personal attack or a kiddie porn joke) will help prevent future occurrances. ex. "I am locking this thread because.. . Over and Out!". That'd do it.

eeneR 3 #4 March 25, 2004 Well seeing it was a repost to a thread that had been deleted...that really wasnt needed...the first one was infact deleted by a moderator, for what ever reason. We all know that this place "aint no damn democracy" She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto
PhreeZone 20 #5 March 25, 2004 Ok then you get 50 people complaining that its not in the rules and they want it reopened. Suck it up and get over it if the thread gets deleted or locked. No need to complain about it since 99.99999% of Talkback could be deleted and nothing useful would be lost.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

So...let me put this out there as well. 1) "This ain't NO damn Democracy" 2) Please do not use one liners in the forums. 3) Please do not use moving avatars. 4) The moderators do not need to explain their decision to delete a post. 5) Please do use good manners and respect the homeowner when invited in to visit/play. If you are asked to wipe your feet or even remove your shoes while here, it should be done simply out of respect. Please do not throw litter on the floor. Sangiro doesn't trash your house...please don't trash his. Thats all I have to say 'bout that. B2

If THAT is what you think this thread is about, you're not truly paying attention. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

PhreeZone 20 #13 March 25, 2004 Oh well... maybe its time for some of the people that helped form the flavor of the site to step aside and see what the next generation of posters have to say. Good thing after the weather breaks this weekend I'll actually be able to get back to jumping instead of posting all the time. Hopefully I'll hit 1000 this summer. I just hope that some of the people that are bitching so much about modertors are paying their dues to the site and to the people that spend all their time playing babysitter to them.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

I would doubt they have very much. The sum of their knowledge still doesn't add up to what is being lost these days with some old timers leaving. I tell yah....some people's children. PhreeZone 20 #15 March 25, 2004 QuoteThe sum of their knowledge still doesn't add up to what is being lost these days with some old timers leaving. I'm putting the figures at about 25:1 or higher... its going to take 25 people to replace the knowledge that 1 of the old timers on here has. 100:1 for a few and if we run off some of the even more experienced people they simply are not replaceable. Too bad that's happened already Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
eeneR 3 #16 March 25, 2004 Its real simple all the newer people who think they have a clue keep trying to tell those that have been around the block a few times that they dont know what they are talking about...and that is beyond just the scope of what started all this..... Someone forgot to teach there childern to mind there manners of the elders and I dont mean by age, but by age of time in this sport, or on this forum. She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto
diverdriver 7 #17 March 26, 2004 Instead, some people are more worried about semantics and just love flying the cyber middle finger to an old timer because they happen to have a writing style that differs than their own. Instead of long gushy posts 5 times a day they actually get to the point of what they are thinking about and others take it as "condescending" (sp?). People stay alive in this sport because people speak bluntly on safety topics. You can't really do anything about someone's hurt feelings if they are already dead. Remember when people complained about old timers being "clicquish"? Well, some old timers try to help out and pass on what they know. There's no compulsary reason to make new jumpers listen to them and how they view the sport. It's just a shame they don't try to see it from their point of view first rather than taking the short path to laughing at how uncool the "parent" is. Grown adults acting like teenagers again. "What do they know? They're so uncool." Well, you don't get old in this sport by being stupid!Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
