Vallerina 2 #1 March 26, 2004 I'm not limited to taking a cruise, although they do seem to offer the cheapest way to travel. I'm looking into flying directly to a beautiful island (Virgin Islands....St. Thomas/St. John.) Does anybody know of somewhere good online that offers great vacation package deals? Flying there doesn't seem to be the problem....the accomodations are really expensive, and I'm just wondering how to cut those costs down while going on a very peaceful and romantic vacation. Stacy 0 #2 March 26, 2004 Check out Sandals resorts. THey're scattered throughout the tropics. ONly adults allowed in most of them. Price initially looks high, but that price is all inclusive. ALl drinks, all meals, everything. ONly thing you may pay extra for is some odd excursion or if you want scuba certified. they usually offer a resort scuba course for free. All Inclusive is the way to go, definitely. __
freeflir29 0 #3 March 26, 2004 Well.....stick your tongue in my ear and hang on until fall. I should have enough hotel points for a getaway for two at one of the many Hilton partner resorts. Just add air fare.
Vallerina 2 #4 March 26, 2004 Holy moly! Those are expensive!!!! Yikes! I don't think I can afford that, but thanks for the suggestion. QuoteWell.....stick your tongue in my ear and hang on until fall. As tempting as that sounds, we need to get away NOW! I'm thinking about stayin in a hostel for a couple of nights! It's cheap, they provide breakfast, and one is in the middle of an island which is filled with gorgeous national parks we can go and hike in!There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

freeflybella 0 #9 March 26, 2004 I've heard St. John is amazing! I have a friend, Geoff "How to Pay More" Weiser, who goes every year. But I'm willing to bet there are cheap alternatives to his type of vacations. Hell, he even managed to spend alot on Culebra. (We camped on the beach for $10/night) Come to think of it, Culebra Island is good choice. Just off the coast of PR, 7x4 miles small, rent a jeep, shop at the market, camp on the beach, snorkel and hike... Try culebra.org or islaculebra.com (You'll buy airfare to San Juan, then a puddle jumper flight to the island $45/rt per person) Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi
Vallerina 2 #10 March 26, 2004 QuotePeaceful, romantic, tropical. Yep, another zhills parking lot camping vacation. I know that's what you're thinking. Haha! I don't remember the parking lot looking like this. Sigh...I'm still having troubles finding cheap hotels! I don't need to stay somewhere fancy! I doubt we'll spend much time indoors! Even the hostel is pretty expensive. Sigh.... tigra 0 #15 March 26, 2004 Val, Try Apple Vacations' or Fun Jet's "air only" options to Mexico. You might be able to find a bargain on a charter. If you aren't really fussy about your hotel, you can find a place that is clean and air-conditioned in any resort area for less than $50.00 a night.
