Fort Lauderdale

Recommended Posts

Wassup,

I'm thinking about taking a vacation to Florida in late August, part skydiving, part just chillin'. Can anybody tell me what the scene is like at Fort Lauderdale other than at Spring Break? How are the beaches, what's the night life like, is there generally cool shit to see and do. I'll be coming down with friends - not travelling solo, and have a time share to stay at. So what do you think, should I do Fort Lauderdale, or better to go to Orlando.

Oh yeah, what's a close dz to Fort Lauderdale, and can I land on a beach?

FLL is a strange-ish area to travel to IMHO. As for DZs- there are pretty much 3 options- SD Miami which is about an hour and a half south west in Homestead (can not camp there or bring beer, etc, not allowed on the airport), SoBe (although I have no idea what's going on there right now) which is about an a hour and a half north west (camping is off site there), or Sebastian which is probably 2 hours north (camping, beer, friendly). For beach jumps sebastian is the only bet, but check b/c beach jumps require quite a bit of planning and i'm not sure how regular they are scheduled.

I haven't spent much time in FLL... so other than DZs can't help you. ALthough if you go to orlando you have ZHills/Titusville/Lake Wales/Sebastian within an hour and the tunnel.

You got the lowdown on dzs already. Now, to discuss night life. Stand in Fort Lauderdale and throw a brick south. Go to where the brick landed. Pick it up and throw it again. It will hit Miami on the second throw. If Miami can't provide you with any kind of nightlife you're looking for, you need professional help.
