Bodhisattva420 0 #1 July 25, 2010 I just bought my first rig but am not sure if all of my gear is compatible. My container comes with an RSL, however, the risers my buddy gave me do not have an attachment for one. Can an attachment be added by a rigger? Also, is it safe to use mini risers with large D rings? Thanks a bunch!
monkycndo 0 #2 July 25, 2010 The answer is yes to both questions. I have canopies I lend out and had RSL attachment rings added so the risers would work with right or left RSL. Any decent rigger can add the ring.50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity

Yeah, but someone is going to show up and start the pissing contest about whether that's a "Master Rigger's Job" or if a "Senior Rigger" can do it. To the OP, its not wholly necessary, but you may be better off contacting the mfgr of your container and getting a new set of risers with an RSL attachment ring. ZigZagMarquis 9 #4 July 25, 2010 QuoteAlso, is it safe to use mini risers with large D rings? Yes, that will work... but somewhere around here Bill Both posted about the difference in cut-away forces when using... Large Rings w/ standard ringed risers... Large Rings w/ mini risers... and Mini Rings w/ mini risers... just something you may want to know.

BUT ... installing an RSL requires replacing the confluence wrap, just above the 3-Ring hardware. The confluence wrap is so thick that you need a Class 7 (harness machine pulling 5 cord) or the mother-of-all zig-zag machines (pulling E thread). A simpler alteration - of dubious legality - is to loop a soft link around the front riser - just above the confluence wrap and attach your RSL to the metal ring on the soft loop. But the bottom line is that RSL "alterations" are best done by Master Riggers who understand the finer points of RSL design.
