Quiet open face helmet

A Guner helmet. It's sorta quiet, but more importantly, will not interfere with appropriate goggles, which are even more important than the MP3 player (see below.) The goggles help prevent distractions on the skydive to boot.

Suggestion: Do not listen to an mp3 player while operating a motor vehicle or jumping from an airplane. Some things require 100% attention.

I know...this is probably a troll, but I took the bait.

No, not a troll. It will only be for wingsuit flights. I'm also getting a Neptune 3 Audio to link up with the mp3 player.

But whether or not its a good idea is irrelevant. I was just trying to get opinions about which open face helmet is the quitest in terms of wind noise, or perhaps a better way to reduce wind noise with earbuds in.

There were goggles in that pic?

The gunner looks pretty comfy. Anyone else know about how quiet these are?

Get some Bose noise canceling low profile earphones and cut them into your helmet pads. The Gunner has extra room on both sides.

And then enjoy the flight.

That sounds like a cool idea. Have you tried something like this, or is it just an idea you have?

So, I cant listen to my iPod/iPhone thats running thru my stereo while I drive?

Why would they sell the devices to integrate them then? :S:P

This is getting a bit off track due to the safety nazis. While I appreciate smart asses like billvon (I, too am a smart ass), I really would like some serious opinions about a good, very quiet helmet disregarding the safety aspect. (we can talk about that in the safety forum.) Thanks guys.

Any helmet that has pads that are tight to your ears will keep the noise down. I actually like the sensory feed back in a WS as it gives me a better idea of my angle of attack due to where the sound is coming from, from in front of me verses from below. What is great is when my decent rate slows and the wind noise goes away. :)

50 donations so far. Give it a try.

I've been using an iPod for around 700 WX jumps.
Monkey has it right. Tune your flying vs trying to find the right helmet.
I have a CC1 from Tonfly; very quiet but still noisy.
WX (if you're flying right) means you're using the wind to help guage your fall rate. A bit of wind in your ear is important.
Seriously...worry about finding sweet spot speeds.
I almost always fly either a Mindwarp or CC1 with a single earphone in. Never two.

I just placed an order for a Gunner (in royal blue). The best part is, if you send them your old helmet of any brand or condition, they give you a 30% discount! Saved me $70.50. :)

ANY brand helmet?! Can I send 'em an old hockey helmet and get 30% off?
This shit, right here, is OK
