I have seen a video of a birdman maintaining HD for about 15 sec after exit, but couldnt hold it for much longer, it was funny to see him cork!

(I have heard the term cork refering to Hybrids. Is this also a common term for "pooping out" in a Sitfly or HD?)

And what is the difference between VRW and HD?

VRW is vertical relative work. It's like regular freeflying but with less fun.

I always wondering if I could get into my birdman, fly head-down for about 20 seconds or so to pic up terminal velocity with my arms in, then flatten out and spread the wings, and then try to stall the suit. How rad would that be???

Kind of counter productive in a suit, unless of course you're chasing a student. I'll tell you who can do VRW in a suit like no one I've seen before. I'll give ya a hint: she likes Chocolate


Edit: it is also very hard on your suit doing VRW as the forces generated when you come out of that orientation stress the seams of the suit. But you know this already don't ya Mr. O ring? Nice shot BTW

Yeah, actually I'm giving Iwan a hard time cause he barrel rolled out of the Cessna on exit and it only looks like he's vertical for that 500th of a second!

There's another nice shot of him flying dirty in the photography forum. I'm experimenting with longer lenses and having some fun with them.

Canon 100 F2, autofocus, shutter priority 1/500.

check out the other pics in the Telephoto thread in the camera forum. McGowan put this bug in my head last year about getting faces and shooting aperature priority to shallow up the depth of field. They're neat, kind of different.

To the subject, it's definitely better to keep your arms back when diving, or you'll be out some cash a couple months of flying.
