billvon 3,131 #1 April 5, 2004 (with apologies to Daniel Keyes) ------------------------- March 30th, 2004 Woahhh.. Talkback is gone!!! Whats with that??? MAYbe too many post's about BOOBIES. I figured I;'d write down this, like a diary, since I can't post in talkback. I have nothing else to do!!!! March 31st Still no Talkback! I was so bored today so I went running. I also went to the librarary and read a book about a fish and a fishermen. It was short but good. Except there sure were a lot of LOSERS in the library. April 1st Wow, I was sleeping really well last night; must be because of all the running. Got up early and went running again. My route takes me past the fish market, and I stopped for a while to watch them haul in the latest catch. Never knew there was so much fish getting caught around here! April 2nd Today was an interesting day. I went back to the library to get another book, and I was reading the notices posted on the board about these free talks they give. One of them was on marine biology; it looked sort of interesting in an egghead sort of way. There was a woman there who was reading the notices as well and I asked her if she was interested in marine biology. She said she was, and that she had minored in it in college. She was good looking in an outdoorsy sort of way. I'm definitely going to that seminar now! I picked up a few books on whales and otters. I found out they were cetaceans and pinnipeds respectively, which explained what the woman meant when she was talking about fishing's impact on cetaceans. I should have asked her name. April 3rd The talk was really interesting. It covered the overall food chain in the ocean, and explained where pollution ends up and why some fish are safer to eat than others in polluted waters. I never realized the water around here were so polluted. I saw Cindi in the audience and talked to her afterwards about cetaceans. She thought it was great that I had done some research into them. We ended up having coffee at the Starbucks near the movie theatre. She's a really cool woman. Plus she's really attractive, but for some reason I wanted to listen to her more than I wanted to look at her. April 4th I had dinner with Cindi tonight, at a Thai restaraunt she's always wanted to try. I generally tend towards fast food, but I figured I'd give a new cuisine a try. It was excellent, even the dishes that looked suspiciously like seaweed and tofu. Cindi talked about what she wants to do with her life, how she wanted to find a way to escape her secretarial job and experience more of what the world has to offer. I told her she should try skydiving. She was unsure about that. I don't want to pressure her, so I just gave her the number of the DZ. She told me she'd always wanted to volunteer for Earthwatch, which is a program that lets you spend a few weeks volunteering on marine biology projects. That sounds like it has possibilities; I wonder if she'd consider doing one with me? I'm going to have to do some research into Earthwatch. Physically I feel great. I'm not sure if it's the running, or getting more sleep, or just being excited by having a new person in my life, but I feel like I'm losing weight and gaining energy. I'm not sure what's changed. Could it be Talkback? Could it be that, once free of that timesink, I am able to take the energy I once wasted on-line and turn it towards self-improvement? Checked DZ.com late tonight and found out Talkback had been reactivated with a different name. Perhaps tomorrow I'll have time for it, but I have some research to do before I go to sleep tonight.
