catfishhunter 2 #1 April 5, 2004 I recieved in the mail Friday the USPA Death/Dismemberment Insuarnce paper work. Anyone have any opinions on it? The policy at first reading looks worthwhile....Opinions?????? MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. We must live life to the fullest EVERY DAY. kelel01 1 #2 April 5, 2004 I didn't get anything in the mail, but any kind of AD&D coverage that doesn't exclude skydiving as a covered cause is worth seriously considering for purchase. I sure hope something comes for me. Kelly
catfishhunter 2 #3 April 5, 2004 I didn't bring it with me to qoute the numbers but for 25K it is $33 something a quarter which ain't half bad. Coverage up to 100K for $100 something a quarter... PhillyKev 0 #4 April 5, 2004 Don't have to wait for the mail. There's info on the uspa website under membership and services.
kelel01 1 #5 April 5, 2004 If you have dependents who rely on your income, I'd say that's worth it. I think I'll wait a bit, given my circumstances . . . but it's something for everyone to consider.
koz2000 1 #6 April 5, 2004 I got universal life ins from Nationwide which I added the coverage for skydiving, 150K for about $90 per mo. It also has value that can be borrowed against. ryand96 0 #7 April 5, 2004 I thought that it sounded good at first glance, but I was put off by all the exceptions where benefits won't be paid. It's great that my girlfriend(in my case) would be covered if I go in skydiving, but if I go by heart attack, benefits won't be paid??? That put me off for sure. kelel01 1 #8 April 5, 2004 That's because it's Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance. It's a very standard type of coverage-- but it's not Life Insurance, in the truest sense of the term. It's less expensive than regular life insurance (considerably so) and requires no physicals or health questions. It would be a fantastic supplement to any regular term or whole life policy that excludes skydiving as a covered cause. Oh, and AD&D coverage also pays YOU a benefit if you lose a limb, sight, hearing, speech, become paralyzed, etc. It's very good coverage.
stateofnature 0 #9 April 5, 2004 You'll get it every year...toss it in the same pile as the Hertz "Discount" rent a car card. Wait...do they still give that Hertz card with membership...can't quite recall
ltdiver 3 #10 April 6, 2004 I've had it for over 4 years. Plan on keeping it. Plan on never having to use it. Nice to have....just in case. My dad's been in the insurance business for over 40 years and gave it the thumbs up when he reviewed the policy. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I am actually shopping around for life insurance now. I have contacted multiple insurance companies (or insurance agents) about life insurance that covers skydiving and not a one has gotten back to me with a quote yet. The D&D life combo sounds like it is probably the best way to go. Although since I haven't gotten any quotes on life with or without skydiving coverage it might be difficult to compare the two options price wise. Thanks again, definitely something to think about.
