DiverMike 5 #2 July 16, 2010 The type of fabric will make a greater difference than the color. This is more a physics question than a gear question. All things being equal except for color, the darker the color, the more photons will be absorbed and not re-emitted. The energy of the photon would heat up the material. That is why white clothes on a hot summer day are cooler than black clothes. The darker the canopy, the greater the wear and tear based on this heating/cooling cycle.
