moodyskydiver 0 #1 April 6, 2004 After over 24 hours of stress, tense phone calls, a sleepless night and total chaos in general my older sister gave birth to her 3rd child, Matthew Stuart. We've all been on pins and needles because he was born 9weeks early. The hospital she was admitted to had to transfer her by ambulance to Baylor hospital in Dallas(an hours drive away) after realizing they were unequipped to handle such a premature delivery and that they couldnt stop the labor. He arrived at 2:11pm today weighing 4lbs 6oz. We're not sure how long they/he will remain in the hospital b/c his lungs arent fully developed. But he cried on his own w/o prompting so thats a good sign and the hospital staff is optomitic. *sigh* I skipped out on the school field trip I've waited for all year to stay home watching over my sister's 2 kids and 2 step-kids while my parents visit the newest family edition. Atleast its over and hopefully there wont be complications. I'm an aunt...again. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

That's excellent news too! My thoughts are with little Matthew and your family. A friend of mine's daughter was born 10 weeks early. She spent about a month in the hospital before she could go home, and she was on oxygen for the first year she was alive... She's 12 now. They've come a long way in how they treat/handle premature babies since she was born; I have no doubt that Matthew is going to be just fine. What a good sister/daughter/aunt you are... makes you want to have three or four kids of your own, doesn't it?

After babysitting these 4 little monsters (ages 11,9,7 and 4) I NEVER want kids. They havent even been here 24hrs yet I'm I'm already fantasizing of the biggest clothes hamper I can find, putting them in it upside-down and sitting on it! (yes I know I'm cruel and no I wouldnt actually do this b/c I know its cruel but its helping me hold onto the last thread of sanity I have. Not to mention it'd be harder to prove in court than going to the barn and getting a cattle prod!)
