They are issued in numerical order, after all. I like this new system

You only like it because you have a high number, so you are young.

No one knows I really got my D license when I was 5 :P

Wendy W.

Oh Wendy! I am 33 in a couple of months. There are plenty of kids that have begun skydiving at half my age. I like the license numbers because it shows others that I am young in this sport, not that I am especially young as a person...lol! I knew that the argument of people not having certain licenses would come up, but I still think that the license # is a good judge of most poster's years in the sport.

I have to agree Wendy that it's quite amazing that you were only 5 when you got that "D". You must have had a very light wingloading, too! :P

Ditto. Jump #s and years in the sport are a better indicator of experience. License #s are interesting but sometimes don't tell the whole story.

True, but jump #'s and years in the sport don't always tell the whole story either. People take time off the sport for various reasons(injuries, family, etc), jump more in some years than in others....

What about USPA's questions for license renewal?

# of jumps
#of jumps last year
# of years in the sport

@Bets... I was actually thinking 6 months would be a better indicator too but stayed with quoting USPA for fear of "that's not what USPA says " posts.

My .02

I really don't think any of it matters cause in my experience the people that are in search of an answer to thier question usually get bombarded by the ones who think they know it all.

I have seen it in the past and Skymonkey One will back me on that.

I am coming up on 5000 jumps and 9 years in the sport and I choose to take advice from people with 1000 jumps and 20 years in the sport just as well as someone who has 10000 jumps and 5 years in the sport.
The key is to listen and take a persons advice for what they know best.

True, that. I've been in the sport for 4 years, but I've taken time-off a combination of about a year for different reasons.

Yeah, same here in # of years. Last year I think I did about 30 jumps total because of personal stuff. I think I'm about the same amount over the last 3 months.

Good call. I was out of jumping for over a year until just a few months ago. I was also slowed down at one other point. Hence I've been "in the sport" for three and a half years, but I've been jumping for more like two.

and also time as a member of DZ.com would be nice

I do not think that could be accurately possible. The time which you currently see as your "registered" date is only since the last major revision of this website. There are many of us who were posting two versions before this one came to be; long before the date which currently shows up. I doubt there is any way to retrieve the original dates. That said, the "dropzone.com born-on date" wouldn't really add much value in my opinion. The amount of time a person posts on dropzone.com has no bearing whatsoever with their ability to jump out of an airplane without killing themselves, nor should it make any difference in whether or not you choose to take advice from someone on this site. Just my opinion.

All the peeps that are worthy of being skymonkeys should be noted somehow...:P J/k chuckie.

Not everyone is gonna be happy with what is chosen to get put next to their name. Most of us that have been around dzcom long enough are lucky. We know who gives good advice and who doesn't have a clue.

That is so true! Unfortunately, I think people actually had put stock in the "post titles" that had been in use until now, which had to be the most asinine scale of measure for opinion known to man.

And we've seen more then a few people go from "not knowing anything" to becoming riggers, instructors, etc. Which as been cool.B|

This is true but the ones I am worried about are the new ones who don't know who is giving good info or not.

Years in sport.hmm, first tandem over 5 years ago. Second tandem over 5 years ago. aff, started 5 years ago, 1-2 jumps a month all the way through aff, lots of money issues, injury, 5 years later,......48 jumps:))

So, in the sport? I wish I didnt have to put "5 years" by "48 jumps":S

What about we just add "home dz"?

I think the info is great... adding home dz would be cool too.. I often check profiles for that when I see people teasing each other and wonder where they jump.

One other thought, obviously, the mini-profile is already adding more length to each post box.. maybe dropping last logged in or the incorrect born on date would free up a little room.

Don't mess with Riddler's post-whoring history as the same post-whoring can be used against myself.

On a side note, how come years in sport can not be entered as a fraction (or decimal value) as opposed to the simple integer. I've been in the sport for almost 21 months now, but I didn't want to enter 2 years as being in the sport (at least not until July 14th, 2004).

I'm guessing it won't take a decimal? Did you try the 1.9? Oh heck, we know you Steve, just put 2 years;)

Yeah, since my 4th anniversary of the sport is in about a month, and I couldn't put a fraction, I just put 4 years. *shrug* If someone doesn't like that, then, that's ok, doesn't bother me.
