TomAiello 26 #1 April 7, 2004 I find I visit the Bonfire a lot more than I ever hung about in Talkback. The weird thing is I check Speaker's Corner a lot more than I ever looked at Talkback, too. That might have something to do with volunteering to help mod it, though. I think it also might be because Bonfire is down in the part of the forums where I mostly hang out, but I had to scroll way up to the top to see Talkback. Anyone else on more (or less) in the new system? Just curious...-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

TheAnvil 0 #3 April 7, 2004 I think I like the new system better. Bonfire keeps non-political junkies from getting bombarded w/political threads to wade thru during election years. Speakers Corner lets political junkies focus there when they like. Vinny the AnvilVinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!! mjosparky 4 #9 April 7, 2004 I enjoy Bonfire much more. It keeps some people from turning every thread into a political speech. SparkyMy idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Deuce 1 #11 April 7, 2004 It actually seems to have tamed the whole thing a little too much. I tend to know who hangs out where, but from time to time I'd like to discuss something a little contentious with the group here. Most of the folks in the soapbox aren't discussing, they're preaching. I think it's a reflection on our current society, actually. Soapbox has two camps, pretty much, the pro's and anti's, and Bonfire is isolationists. Bonfire is kind of Stepford Wive's-ish. It's all still new so we'll definitely see where it goes. I really would have preferred that the people who kept crapping in decent threads in Talkback had been banned.

piisfish 140 #13 April 7, 2004 more in bonfire, and a little in the soapbox. but soapbox I think I have to quit, gets me nervous. very good thing to have separated them, even if some people try to rescucitate political/gun threads from the ex talkback.scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

sunshine 2 #15 April 7, 2004 The one thing i've noticed is HH is posting and being fun again. Of course maybe he's just happy to be back in UK with the twins...so the improved forums might have nothing to do with his happiness. Anyhoo, i'm glad all the icky crap got moved to a different forum. I don't plan on visiting that forum at all. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug! WrongWay 0 #16 April 7, 2004 I'm definitely in favor of the newer system, keeping religious BS and politics away from general dscussions. However, I find myself out of the loop and not coming to the Bonfire as often as I would talkback, for several reasons as listed below. 1. It's way down at the bottom, which though it's a stupid little thing, it's still kind of annoying. 2. There seems to be much less activity on the site as a whole since the stuff went down on Talkback. Less people means less posts, less posts mean less interest, etc. 3. I guess there are a lot of, well, not so much negative vibes, but definitely not positive ones going around since the fall of Talkback. It seems like it got a lot of people pissy, and the threads aren't as bright and positive as they used to be. 4. Too many wannabe mods. This could go hand in hand with #3 for sure. I remember back in the Talkback days (like it was long ago ) when it was a free for all of free speech. The mods did their jobs (well, i might add) by keeping the peace and keeping it a happy environment. But now, it seems as if other people are making it their "duty as dz.commers" to play moderator and pick on people for little details about whether threads belong in certain places, what can or can't be said in threads, and totally slamming on people for just posting as normal. Come on people, HH nominated certain people as moderators for a reason, because they are good people and they are FAIR. If you're not a moderator, let them do their job and quit trying to do it for them, cuz if you're not a mod and are pulling that stuff, odds are you're being an asshole about it. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. Wrong Way D #27371 Mal Manera Rodriguez Cajun Chicken Ø Hellfish #451 The wiser wolf prevails.
mailin 0 #17 April 7, 2004 I guess its good that there is seperation of the 'controversial' threads now.... But boy oh boy was I surprised to see responses about the type of people who post in there! The freaks are making folks nervous now? Maybe its just that I've always had a genuine interest in how the government (and religion) have worked and ensuring that its all in my best interest - but I didn't think I was in the minority... You're not. Some people don't care or have gotten so sick of it they've gone beyond cynicism and don't want anyone talking about it. "Oh, you care about who runs the country? You're a [party] sheep." "Oh, you want to talk about religion? You're a zealot or an idiot for caring." "Oh, you care about guns? tunaplanet 0 #19 April 7, 2004 Yeah, it's great not having to wade through a kajillion worthless, repetitive threads. Now you have all of those threads in one forum. Good. Let the same half dozen people post their "I'm right you're wrong" posts on every thread. I was skimming through a few last night and laugh at how everyone ends up the same...Republicans/Democrats are always right and Republicans/Democrats are always wrong. Funny shit. Then you have the threads posted merely for the point of starting arguments and pissing people off. Hysterical. What's that noise sheep make? BAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
