RevJim 0 #51 April 8, 2004 QuoteWould someone care to define the term "SkyGod?" I think you'll find attitude from people with both high and low jump numbers, in all disciplines. I also think that the term may have different meanings to different folks. So...lets hear it. Bonfire, OK. Anyone who has a different opinion than mine. OK, that's not all. Anyone who has a differing opinion, swear they are right even if they know they are wrong, do not budge, and "look down" upon those that do not agree. To me, it's not jump number relevent. I've seen (and gotten) this attitude from both old timers and students. It's your life, live it! RoadRash 0 #52 April 8, 2004 Quoteyeah, but doing both has caused me to retire from jumping for the next six months....Well at least six weeks after the end of August, as long as he/she/they are on time! OMG...That made me double over in laughter!!!! Hey, if it makes you feel any better, I had to take like 8 months off...but it wasn't cause I sucked or blew...its 'cause I was a moron... ~R+R...Broken and dislocated ankles hurt!~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~... bbarnhouse 0 #53 April 8, 2004 QuoteAnyone who has a differing opinion, swear they are right even if they know they are wrong, do not budge, and "look down" upon those that do not agree. So basically this is not a phenomenon specifically related to the sport of skydiving!
RevJim 0 #54 April 8, 2004 Quite correct, b-squared. There are people like this in every aspect of our lives. We just happen to have a name for them in our sport. Skygods. It's your life, live it! Unstable 9 #55 April 8, 2004 The only real skygods I know are too humble to ever use that term to describe themselves. They spend 99% of their time trying to help newer jumpers and welcome outsiders to the DZ. I can only think of Two in my area..... AggieDave 6 #56 April 8, 2004 Ah man, just because I offered to take you on a tandem you have to go off and call me a skygod? I'm more like a sky demon, just a bit evil, not the full on evil man himself. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Slappie 9 #57 April 8, 2004 At this moment Dave, I can't look at your avatar without thing about your size c-cup manhooters. So please don't post for about a half hour. So I can purge this visual from memory.. Just so you know, I would do a tandem with ya anytime. As long as you can handle me in a fetal postion, so I wont get touched by your mantits!! AggieDave 6 #58 April 8, 2004 Sweet, if you're in the fetal position, you're in place for my ...*cough* belt buckle. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
Slappie 9 #59 April 8, 2004 QuoteSweet, if you're in the fetal position, you're in place for my ...*cough* belt buckle. Fuck dat.. I'm not going on a tandem with you! You're a pervert with MANHOOTERS!!!! Back to my thread about skygods sucking an all... I do believe skygod mentality permeates thru our sport more then others. It can be seen in other sports but skydiving has the most of that kind of mentality. My personal def. of a "skygod" : Anyone who thinks they're better then someone just because of their jump numbers, ability to carve a circle in the sky or any other manuver used in our sport. Just because you've jumped from a plane and saved your ass more times then me, doesn't make you a better person then me. I just don't like being looked down upon because 1) I choose not to jump anymore 2) I haven't lept from an open door in a plane as many times as you... This is a sport, we should be treating each other with respect. Just because I'm better at a certain ability then others doesn't give me the right to look down upon others. Unless your really height challenged or I'm ontop of a barstool.. But if I'm on the barstool I'm probably raising a cold mug of in your honor "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." I would add the concept that skygods are those who have forgotten they were once students or low number jumpers, too.
