earned income credit......

Recommended Posts

Quote

The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), sometimes called the Earned Income Credit (EIC), is a refundable Federal income tax credit for low-income working individuals and families. Congress originally approved the tax credit legislation in 1975 in part to offset the burden of social security taxes and to provide an incentive to work. The credit reduces the amount of Federal tax owed and can result in a refund check. When the EITC exceeds the amount of taxes owed, it results in a tax refund to those who claim and qualify for the credit.

It happens, and even with people with 3 or 4 kids, that made $11000 can get even a fatty check for $3K. (and they request that no federal tax is witheld)[:/]

Sometimes I see this as a bonus for people bend on having kids as collection items just to get the freebies, but in the other hand they don't see that they are really using other's people money, yours and mine. Poor kids, there should be laws forbiding people to have more kids they can actually afford to.:|

Lisa, What I meant, when people can not handle more than one kid responsibly, they keep on getting not one more, but 3 or 4 or more. That is the message.

Hell, how do we know we can afford to have the kids till we got them.
I planned the two that I have, and I had no idea it would take this much money to raise them:S

I got one moved out, two months later he was back :)

I meant no offense, but most of the people here work hard to get where they are at. I assure you that none of those $6K-$11k a year income people would be skydiving. they simply blow away their $4000 refund in a car or something very expensive, instead of wisely choosing something that would help them get out of the hole they are in.

I still help them, but it is the mentality that they tend to even stop working when they reach certain income a year for the fear they won't get more food stamps, freebies and a big fat check. Simply put the goal is to keep working enough so they don't go over the limits where these benefits stop.:|

Well, if you go, let me know, there are quite a few skydivers over there that would definitely be able to show you around. My suggestion is do both Lillo (in Madrid about 100 Euros round trip from Barcelona) in 4-5 hours, and then Ampuria of course close to the beach:o. Nice.

hell...I can't afford mine either, though I could at the time. Can't send 'em back though. Mine's sleeping beside me right now....got scared of the thunderstorm. So not only do I have no money, I have no privacy. Anyway, I am getting a HUGE refund, and I was wondering if it turned out that we paid taxes at all. I'll have to look it over to see exactly how it happened. I'll let y'all know if I'm getting any of y'all's moolah!

Peace~

No offense taken, cause you don't know me and know that I work two jobs to raise my two boys alone. Not what I would choose mind you. Their father died in 1996. Also, I have one credit card, which I pay off the balance at the end of the month if I've used it.
I paid and bought my 1995 Arostar, though I would love a new van. But I can't bring myself to make car payments. Oh, and I own (will the bank does) my own house.

I just hope you realize that there are people (not all) actually in the mindset of having kids or "borrowing" dependents to get this, as well as the max income per year to get the max EIC they can get.

As I said that it was not my intention of offending anyone, but I have been witness of people just abusing this as a tool for some stupid and lavish item they don't actually need, and the kids end up getting the bad end of the deal[:/].

You will save more in an older reliable car. No need for the latest model IMHO. But then that is another whole topic.

Most of us have to struggle to make ends meet, but there is a vast group out there who is not really struggling at all to get somewhere, and expect that it is their right for others to carry the burden as long as they live. I have seen women in your same situation, who done the opposite. And that is wrong.
Responsibility seems scarce these days.
