Not much really..........things are "cheap" there by most of the world's standards. I'd like to visit sometime. Maybe I'll drop by later this year. B| I'm thinking I'll spend a good deal of time at Empuria Brava but I'm sure that will get boring sonner or later.

I don't know much about Romania other than what you noted (and you just joined NATO), and what the CIA factbook outlines. I am fascinated with Eastern Europe though.

Do you like living there?

Edit to add: Population estimates from last year indicate there are more women than men there...is that true? :P
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

My b/f's sis-in-law is from Romania. Great food!! And there's this home-made drink, Cherries soaked in almost pure alcohol w/ lot of sugar for a few months - then they strain it - delicious!!

There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear.

Not a lot. It's about 12 kilometers from here, but what I've seen from bicycling across the border to try to find coffee is not likely representative of the country.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of aeronautical activity in Romania near the border with Serbia, so I don't expect to find much in the way of DZs nearby. I'm also dependent upon Serbian transportation for anything beyond bicycling, so I haven't explored the possibility extensively.

As far as females go, that's mostly academic. I'm stuck with English, German and a little French, which rules out much socializing. In addition, most of my contemporaries of the opposite sex (I'm 50) are either married or uninteresting.

If you know of a DZ somewhere near the Serbian border, let me know. I'm going to be here for a while.

Blue skies,

Winsor

I had a Romanian "stalker" when I was in Kuwait!:D He just kept asking me to meet him by his radio van. He said he wanted to kiss me and take me to Romania. I can't remember where he said he was from but apparently Romanian Army doesn't pay well so he was working on his English so he could move to Florida to work on a cruise ship.

He was really nice though!:)
