cocheese 0 #2 April 13, 2004 There's also Beaver Dam and Big Beaver Road. Got a small town named Hell and one named Christmas. And Chelse and Clinton are next to each other. There's more let me think.
JamesNahikian 0 #3 April 13, 2004 I know that place, Beaver Island is a milestone during the Chicago to Mackinac Island yacht race and I've tucked-in on the return passage. There aren't any beavers on the island as I seem to recall the name originated with the native americans (Ojibwa, I believe) who honored it with the beaver designation like they did with the Sleeping Bear. The families who stay on Beaver Island through the winters, mostly of Irish descent, are hardy stock. It's inaccessible during much of winter except by helicopter on good days and the neighboring mainland territory is largely Mennonite, so you're on your own. D. wendybird 0 #4 April 13, 2004 My folks have a place there. Great place to escape to. Like stepping back in time a 1/2 century or so ... I like the fact that I can walk around nekkid and nobody knows No beavers there, but lots of peeping plovers.Wendy "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used u
