MarkM 0 #77 March 23, 2004 Quote What? You mean there's a world out there beyond one or two dz's in Florida? And people actually skydive out there? What a concept. So says the girl who moved to FL to jump

Zenister 0 #81 March 24, 2004 you make good points...and its certainly something to consider...in fact i just got a new pair of Teva's to jump in.. will I? certainly. will I all the time? no way...really depends on conditions and personal feeling...i love the wind between my toes.... of course i have landed waaaaaaay out wearing Tevas before... and wasnt a fun walk back thru the woods either....____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. Shotgun 1 #82 March 24, 2004 Wow, even Zenister is sounding sensible now! I usually jump in my high-top aerobic shoes. They give a little bit of ankle support and a LOT of shock absorption (which is my main concern because I have a bad back). But it does feel nice to jump in sandals or barefoot, so I have done that on occasion - taking extra care to make sure I will land in a nice area... Though it is not always possible to prevent landing off... I was in a plane once that was having some sort of problem and we were all told to get out even though we weren't over the dz - so we had no choice but to land in a field of mesquite bushes, climbing over a couple of barbed wire fences to get back - glad I had good shoes on for that one. Of course, that's something that most likely won't happen, but it's worth thinking about...
vt1977 0 #83 March 24, 2004 Some great points in this thread. I have and do jump in Tevas in summer – I love that feeling of the air on my feet.I do accept that there are some added risks with jumping in Tevas but I try my best to minimise them. Most people who have jumped with me in Tevas would probably say that the greatest risk is to their sense of smell as my Tevas are stinky-stinky-stinky!!! murrays 0 #85 April 13, 2004 Yep, the smell can be deadly....I've jumped Tevas since 1982 or so and plan on always jumping them. I just love wearing sandals in the summer and hate having to change into running shoes to jump. Cold weather is about all that makes me jump with other foot gear. goose491 0 #86 April 13, 2004 I understand the added risk of jumping without proper footwear... but still can't resist a bare-footer from time to time My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
