happythoughts 0 #1 April 13, 2004 Right now there is a thread in lots of forums about people flying outside of the limits of their abilities. Incidents, General Discussion, Safety and Training. People keep flying themselves into the ground or some other foolishness. Some of the discussions revolve around the response. What do you say? Who do you say it to? Remember, if you say something to someone, they may classify you as a "Skygod" and tell you it's none of your business. They may tell people you are an interfering dick for the rest of the day. Here is my suggestion. Right now, there is safety day. It happens on a specific day. I suggest a day that can happen anytime during the year. It doesn't involve everyone, just you. It's called "Dick For a Day". You try to solve a safety issue and that person thinks you are a Dick for a Day. You have to live with the rejection. Sometimes I'm wrong, but I err on the side of caution. Then I have to admit that I'm wrong. Personal method one - I talk to the S&TA about some issue and they decide whether it needs addressing. The S&TA takes whatever action. Method two - I talk to them personally and they think I'm a Skygod/Jerk/Dick for a day. Tact. "Yeah, swooping is interesting. Have you thought about a canopy class?" "Hey, this concerns me..." "I was noticing that..." "Do you like your pc like this?" "I was just looking at your boobies and noticed that your chest strap..." I have met so many dz.commers. They are the most dysfunctional group of reprobates you can imagine (and fun ). With the hope of seeing all them again and abusing new ones, I propose Dick for a Day.
