favaks 0 #76 April 16, 2004 Quote UFC and PRIDE are the 2 most realistic NHB tournaments there are. These tournaments are the closest thing to a street fight there is. I wouldn't call 2 guys rolling on a padded floor mat licking each other sweat for 20 minutes the closest thing to a street fight. The thugs you run into on the streets never play fair and are never alone. They will not fight you unless they think they have the upper hand, weapons, friends. Odds are always against you. You pick one guy and take him out and take him out fast and make it as ugly as possible and get the hell out. favaks
Casurf1978 0 #77 April 16, 2004 Please NHB and UFC close to real street/bar fight yeah right. Favak summed it up best. It's hardly ever one on one, it does not last 20+min, and the guys dont have pads on their hands. They might have knives, bottles, lead pipes anything but pads. Also to say one style is the best because it dominates UFC and NHB. BJJ and grapling are great styles, but the best all around, hardly. They have a lot to offer and I respect both styles. For anyone to say his/her style is the best without ever trying others is BS. Read what Bruce Lee said about staying with one style. Why do you think he created JKD? Zenister 0 #78 April 16, 2004 QuoteAlso, name how these tournaments do not allow kenpo stylists to use their "full arsenal". you get arrested when you kill your opponent.____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. Zenister 0 #79 April 16, 2004 QuoteSorry to sound so ignorant but both Kenpo and Akido are Japanese correct? I know one was taught to the Samuari for unarmed combat, is it Kenpo? not quite... here is a very good online resource if you interested in Budo http://www.e-budo.com/____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. tunaplanet 0 #80 April 16, 2004 Like I said, talk is cheap. Actions speak louder. My invitation to all those who claim to be black belts or those who are posting their "expert" opinions when they have never even taken martial arts are more than welcome to swing by when you're in the Tampa Bay Area. No charge for the lesson. If you can prove to me that my style is second best I'll admit and post a full apology on the boards. The open invitation is open. We'll spar to your conditions and videotape it. Results, not "expert" opinions are what matter. Only on dz.com could peopkle argue that a style is not dominate despite the fact it's students win the vast majority of every NHB tournament. Obviously this has turned into one of the political threads where people with no experience in the topic scream, "I'm right you're wrong!" No sense in continuing the back and forth posts. Make sure you take me up on my offer. PM me when you'll be in the neighborhood and we'll hook up for a spar. Afterwards we'll knock back some cold ones and do some jumps. Luv2Fall 0 #81 April 16, 2004 Well dude, I do or rather I did hold a Belt Belt.......before my diagnosis in 96 and subsequently my total retirement from it all. My opinion may not be "expert" but they do reflect my experience. It was, indeed, an interesting ride. My wife throughly enjoys kicking my ass these days. Edited to add pic. ChrisL 2 #82 April 16, 2004 I have a black belt in sarcasm. My style is unique I have yet to meet my match. Next time I'm in Tampa we will have to have a verbal sparring match and catch it on tape. Prepare to be bested, Sir Tuna! Then we can make some jumps and knock back some Cokes (I'm an alcoholic ) In the world of sarcasm, my Kung Fu is the best!__ My mighty steed
