Troy Hartman on GMA

Troy Hartman is the weatherman on "Good Morning America" this morning. They called him an "adventurist", not a skydiver. He's doing pretty good so far. I wonder how he got that gig.

For those of you on the west coast, they have a small interview segment with him at 7:50. They showed tape of him tracking from one plane to another. Pretty cool, even though he crashed into the door on a couple of attempts.

You beat me to it :) I saw that this morning as I was getting ready, but missed where they finally spoke to him because I had to leave for work. Very cool though! My son called Merrick who'd already left to tell him about the 'crazy guy trying to get back into the plane' and ran around whooping at how cool he was. I guess Mom and Dad just getting out isn't cutting it on the whole cool factor anymore!

I've really been impressed with Troy Hartmann. When you contrast his approach to high publicity stunts with that of some other folks (like Felix Baumgartner), there's just no comparison. I always get the feeling that he's trying to look good _and_ make the sport look good.

Kudos to Troy...I remember his second BASE jump...

I still laugh every time I read or hear about him and the Air Force Academy airplane incident story. He sounds like a really great publicist for skydiving and other adventure activites.

I never knew he had a degree or anything about meterology.

I remember his 100th skydive. I've got a few "Troy stories" from the year or so he was jumping at the little dz I was at. Definitely a fun guy to be around. Hard to believe that was 10 years ago...

It was obvious even then he was going to achieve his goals. It's been a lot of fun watching him do it.

I don't think he does. I believe he was just a guest filling in for the regular guy. He was reading from a clipboard and really just kept repeating the same thing over and over whenever he came on.

Troy's got a degree, but I think he told me it was Political Science or something. Can't recall.

Looks that way. He's back on this morning, and they just showed a teaser of him flying with a burning parachute.


Edit....Diane Sawyer asked him, "How do you decide to burn your parachute?" and Troy kind of shrugged and replied, "you get bored".
