BoostedXT 0 #27 April 20, 2004 I asked that....not in colorado. Colorado goes by the number of years you have been insured in the state. Married? Drops huge.... For example....If you move here right at 18 and get your own car and policy and have never been insured before your price goes up 52%. Oh well..... Gawain 0 #28 April 20, 2004 I didn't read the rest of the thread, but you should seriously consider this: Whatever your next car, ensure there isn't a turbo in the engine. That's the real taboo with your insurer at your age. You might consider going to a Subaru dealer and "trading-down" to a non-Turbo Forrester (you might just break even, or be a little under). The base 2.5L engine makes a respectable 165bhp and impressive 166lb/ft torque. So, you'll miss some acceleration, but you'll get to keep a familiar form factor, and reliability (if not better reliability, as turbos tend to be longer-term maintenance problems). You'll likely save a ton on insurance too. It's worth checking. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Joe Hmmm....interesting, I moved here 2 years ago, and my insurance costs went down from Houston, and then last year when they got rid of the stupid no fault law they went down even more. Of course my stats are a bit different. 29/single/renting/no tickets/no accidents/ 97 mustang GT. I am looking at a Subaru WRX, and they say my rates won't change....Fly it like you stole it! AggieDave 6 #32 April 20, 2004 Trade it in for a more "Colorado" type vehicle. I highly suggest a 1986 Chevy Suburban 4x4. Why? They're tanks, damn near can't hurt them. 4x4 is kinda nice to have, especially 'round there, they're cheap so the cost would be low, so would be the insurance, parts are cheap, they're easy to work on and you can lift it to the sky for not much money and with little skill.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." BoostedXT 0 #33 April 20, 2004 Lots of things play into account when insurance quotes come up.....In mass things get cut in half once you hit 25....why? I dont know but they do. I love Colorado....its a great state, been here all of about 1 week...lol...but its awesome! If you need help with the WRX let me know. I have been a subaru fanatic since I was about 15. There isnt anything about the RS, WRX, XT, Sti I cannot tell you. PM me if you have any questions.... AggieDave 6 #36 April 20, 2004 Quoteman I put it through everything... That's why I told my fiance that when we have kids, I'm buying her that Suburban, putting just enough lift to raise the bumpers up a bit, and putting a front end replacement (read: Ranch Hand) and a pipe bumper on the rear. A fucking tank. Either that or a Volvo. Gotta keep those kids safe!--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." skycat 0 #38 April 20, 2004 QuoteTrade it in for a more "Colorado" type vehicle. That forester is the ultimate "CO" vehicle....All wheel drive turbo for those silly mountains, lots of roof space for a ski/bike/kayak rack, then tons of inside room for camping gear, dogs, skydiving gear, all sorts of goodies. And it fits in those tiny ass spaces are REI. Fly it like you stole it!
AggieDave 6 #39 April 20, 2004 QuoteAnd it fits in those tiny ass spaces are REI. Even in Texas the parking spaces at REI (and Home Depot) are tiny. LOL.....REI.....yeah small small spots. Anyone want to buy some climbing rope, webing, and a bunch of beaners? What about a few snowsboards? Lowe Alpine 90+15 adventure pack? huh anyone?
