Lindsey 0 #27 April 20, 2004 I think you're right mike, that many (if not most) DO's don't practice OMM, but there are still plenty who do. I personally like my chiropractor, but I've worked with some DO's who are REALLY good with manipulation too. Just gotta find 'em. I don't think there's really any comparison anymore between DOs and chiropractors though, and if I were starting from scratch (i.e. haven't used my chiropractor for years), I would definately search for a good DO for any musculoskeletal complaints. lawrocket 3 #29 April 21, 2004 I'm no doctor, but I used to defend them. MD's, DO's, DC's, even DPM's and L.Ac's. Some of them got into real trouble for doing things that were a "breach of the standard of care." That is, using treatments that are not in the mainstream, like jaw manipulation's to treat cancer. These are mainly chiropractors using treatment modalities of a new and interesting development/ The best at treatign musculoskeletal problems are MD's or DO's who have a specialty in orthopedics (quick joke - how do you hide a hundred dollars from an orthopedist? Put it in a book) You're right. My impression is that there isn't much difference between DO's and MD's, other than where the medical school funding came from. I've defended enough chiropractors to be leery of them (one got pinched here in Fresno for being a child porn kingpin). BUT - as a whole, so long as they don't guarantee results, and their tretment seems to be logically related to the injury (i.e., he doesn't want to perform a full body exam for treating an ankle - I defended one of those, too), then you should be fine.
