jceman 1 #1 April 21, 2004 I received an email from my oldest son late last night -- he is going to be moving with his family from Fort Bragg, NC to McDill AFB in July. He asked me if I could find someone who is familiar with a good realtor in the area, so now I'm soliciting your help. If you are familiar with the housing availability or know a good realtor, please PM me. Thanks in advance. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?
ozthebum 0 #2 April 21, 2004 For once, the housing office on base was really helpful they had all the info I could want. He'll probably have to talk to them anyway, when I got stationed here (less than a year ago) I had to go through them before I could sign any contacts. Is he looking to buy or rent? Also, is he thinking about living on base? This is from the MacDill web site: QuoteFor information about on- and off-base housing, contact the Housing Flight staff at 813-828-3166 or 813-828-5404. The MacDill Housing Flight is located at 7317 Bayshore Boulevard. If you want to live on base, submit an advance application (DD Form 1746) through your housing office before you leave your current assignment. Applications are considered on the date they are received. The family housing area is currently undergoing major renovation, so on-base housing is very limited. Also, there are no bachelor quarters for officers at MacDill. For those looking for a home off base, the Housing Flight provides full relocation services and can help newcomers find home rentals and sales in the local area. Hope this helps. jceman 1 #5 April 22, 2004 QuoteLucky bastard! Yeah, isn't he, though? I asked him today where specifically, he was going. He's wanted to get there for a long time. Weird, ain't is, an Army type going to an AFB? Those who know, know, though. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them? How funny is that... Chuck and I are looking to buy in Raeford... if you got any more info on the subdivision send me a PM! Army types are pretty common at MacDill. It's not just an AFB - it is the home for a Joint Headquarters (CENTCOM). There are also special forces Army units there.
