Now have 2 camcorders

Recommended Posts

18 months no interest financing and they had it in stock for $698 new. I gave in. Sony PC105.

As my mini profile states, i have 79 jumps. That isn't enough to jump camera but don't worry the camera will stay on the ground until I am cleared from an instructor to jump it whether it be 200 jumps or 700 jumps. I'm not looking to make money doing video, just to video jumps and watch later when I'm not at the DZ. Play around w/ editing too.

Back in October I really wanted to buy a miniDV camcorder and purchased a Canon Elura 50. It was a great little camera that went w/ me to Vegas and Puerto Rico but lately at power up it flashed to Remove Cassette Tape. Now the stupid tape housing doesn't go back into the camera, i snap it closed and it just sticks there.

After doing some research it was discovered that almost all Canon miniDV camcorders have this problem to some degree and Canon are some of the worst ppl to deal with. This sucks, what am I supposed to do w/ this camera? I thought about ebaying it for a cheap price and warning the consumer of the problem but I don't know. The tape housing eventually does go back in.

Advise?

I'd hate to let the camera sit around while I'm using my new PC105, which absolutely rocks!

Any good/bad/funny/creative ideas on what I can do w/ my old camcorder?

Chris

It would've really paid off to have it when the firevan rode up and two lovely ladies had a "message" for me:D

I was reading the manual for the pc105 and played around w/ the time lapse. I set the camera up on my night stand w/ the dc plugged in and night vision on. It taped 1.5 seconds every 10 minutes while I was sleeping, Its pretty damn funny! One shot of me lying on my back snoring my ass off and then me completely under the covers. I guess I toss and turn alot:S

Switch it on and drop it from 14000.B|

Seriously, if it takes firewire in, it could be used as a target deck on an editing setup, which would also work as an analogue/dv convertor, so if you plug a portable TV in, and/or a VCR, you get a better quality view of the end edit. It might save wear and tear on the Sony

You could use it master editing techniques, so when you are ready to capture your own footage, you don't have to go through the editing learning curve.

Or you could duct tape it to a wing/strut and use the remote to get exit shots from unusual angles etc.
