Considering that there are over a million posts made to the forums, and they're growing at a few thousand per day, the few hundred PM's you're saving don't take up that much space. So, to answer your question: Yes, they take up space, yes HH has to spend money on more storage. The cost of storing your saved PM's is prolly somewhere around a few pennies.
