skymama 37 #1 April 20, 2004 Weird things are happening, and none of the programs I have are working to get it off. First, when I log onto the internet for the first time now, a screen comes up that is made to look like an official Microsoft site, telling me to click on a link to stop my system from slowing down. There's a web address on there written real small, but I forgot the name of it. I knew better than to click on it. Next, every once in awhile while I'm scrolling or clicking, the task bar will sometimes start flashing with a bar that says "loading", then it disappears. Or, a new screen will pop up quickly and the address at the blue bar at the top of the page says, "look2me.com", then it disappears too, after some numbers showing up on the task bar that look like 69.20.69.yy2 (or something like that). In addition, by accident I found a new user in my user accounts, even though it doesn't show up on my start page on XP. The user name was "ASP.Net Machine A's...". I deleted it and it hasn't come back....yet. For virus programs and pop-up blockers, I have: Black Ice Google Pop-Up Blocker Norton System Works (ran that once) Spybot (ran that twice) Any suggestions? She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
freeflir29 0 #2 April 20, 2004 That does sound bad. Make sure you have updated your virus software and run it again! Sounds like someone has been playing with your computer while you aren't looking.
skymama 37 #3 April 20, 2004 I ran the "Live Update". Is that enough? She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
Snowflake 0 #4 April 20, 2004 first it sounds like your default homepage has been changed(standard trick) go to tools>internet options and try changing the homepage. I'll have to think on the task bar thing I've seen it before but it's been a while. Also you might want to check and make sure that under the privacy tab it's set to medium at least

Gawain 0 #6 April 20, 2004 QuoteI ran the "Live Update". Is that enough? After you run the "Live Update" you need to perform a scan and update your back-up disks. You should also download the update to BlackICE, as there was an emergency patch issued for "WITTY WORM" on March 24th.So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! freeflir29 0 #10 April 20, 2004 QuoteA scan of what? A virus scan silly! Open up Norton and click on "Scan for Virus's." If the virus got on your computer before you updated it won't recognize the virus. Even if it did you still have to run a scan to get it removed. The auto mode only does so much. freeflir29 0 #11 April 20, 2004 Oh....and if it comes up something like "Exploit-verify" or "Java/s" as a virus name.....let me know. There a couple tricks you will need to know in order to get rid of this nasty bug.

sunshine 2 #14 April 20, 2004 I'm having major puter issues too skymama. Adaware keeps locking up when i try running it. I'm having michael (wffc) come over wednesday to figure out what the hell i did to my puter. I'm assuming i have some spyware that i can't delete. I know michael will fix it up for me though. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!

AggieDave 6 #16 April 20, 2004 If it was my computer, I'd go through my registry by hand and clean it, it doesn't take too long, but you have to know exactly what you're doing or you'll fuck your computer so bad...so don't do that. skymama 37 #20 April 20, 2004 I did the one button scan last night a couple of times. It kept saying I had "1 problem found" but when I did the fix, it wouldn't fix. Then, I went to the security scan area where you can see it scanning every file on the computer, and it said it didn't find anything there. So, do you think this is more of a Spyware thing than a virus? She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

Remster 30 #23 April 20, 2004 Strange that Norton doenst want to fix it. But yes, it does sound more like spyware or ad-ware then a virus. Try ad-aware and spybot (listed above). Teaches you right for clicking on these links I sent you .Remster

Meathorse 0 #25 April 20, 2004 Be careful if you decide to use "HijackThis". It doesn't separate the bad from the good... it just shows you everything that runs on startup. HijackThis kicks ass though, it's the only thing that could save my computer. If you decide to use it, go here http://computercops.biz/forum67.html. Friendly people will help you.
