TheAnvil 0 #1 April 26, 2004 ...today. A co-worker got hit by an SUV while riding his motorcycle late last week. Since he was out of danger and semi-stable, the hospital said they'd let me see him as long as the family OK'd, so I waddled over to see him today. Holy shit. I am seriously screwed up from seeing that. His Mom and wife are very positive as seem the nurses (who are all liking me because I brought them Japanese rice-crackers). But all of those monitors, feeding tubes, other tubes, IV's, casts, and etc. sort of freaked me the hell out. He's going into surgery tomorrow for some more stabilization of some sort. Whoa. More tubes/blood/etc. My fear of motorcycles has been reinforced. I'm glad I went over to see him because it made his family happy, but holy shit did it screw me up. Amazing what the human body can withstand. And I'm already screwed up enough! I mean every time I sit on a golf cart, I subconsciously hear someone saying 'Goddammit Vinny! It's dwarf tossing time!' and fully expect someone to grab me from behind and chunk me into a concrete wall. It's hard to get more fucked in the head than that. Hospitals freak me out. kai2k1 0 #2 April 26, 2004 just for the record I FUCKING HATE HOSPITALS!!!! It stems from my mom having heart problems and cancer. Ever since then I get a claustorphobic feeling whenever i am in a hospital and have to get out. My wife was in the hospital for 3 days last year and i could only muster up about an hour at a time. I felt bad for not spending more time with her, but It was all i could do. You're not alone dude..... RkyMtnHigh 0 #3 April 26, 2004 Hey Vin..I understand how that visual freaks you out. It would any of us; to see someone we care about in such a vulnerable situation. It may sound weird, but if you can..touch his hands and talk to him as if you're having a normal 2-way conversation. That does wonders. My high school boyfriend was in a horrible wreck in a topless Jeep on a very foggy Bama day on the way to work and an 18 wheeler plowed him over..it was so grose. He had pins in every bone of his body and the halo on his skull. His parents called a priest, gave up and were ready to say goodbye to their only son. I wiggled his toes, touched his hands, and talked to him as if it were a two way conversation..read him books, etc. and he came out of the coma within a few weeks. Vin, Love and Compassion does amazing things...hang in there, my friend. _________________________________________

BikerBabe 0 #6 April 26, 2004 I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Is the SUV driver going to be charged with anything? Quoteshould fear SUV's instead... My opinion Agreed. It's not the motorcycles that are the problem. It's all the other idiots out on the road. nael 0 #9 April 26, 2004 I absolutely detest hospitals! I'm a vet nurse, I see blood, guts etc on a daily basis. No problem. My boss got attacked by a dog 3 weeks ago and had his hand ripped apart, I was fine with it at work, bandaged it up, checked it to make sure it was fine, took him to the hospital, stood in emergency for about 10 minutes talking to him, making sure he was feeling ok, until I started seeing black spots, and feeling incredibly ill to the point I had to go outside and sit down for a few minutes before I fainted! It was bizarre, I am never queasy or anything, but looking around a hospital makes me feel like I'm gonna get sick and die right there! I HATE them, the smell, the people, everything! I havent even had any really bad experiences in them either....... www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store
