MyOwnWay 0 #1 April 25, 2004 This happens to me ALL the time, and it's getting quite annoying. I have been up since 3 a.m. and I went to bed tired as hell at 12 a.m. I am still wide awake 3 more hours later. But come, 2 p.m. I feel dead. Does this happen to any of you, and if so, what do you do to get back to sleep? I've tried the old remedy of drinking warm milk, but that doesn't seem to work. I really don't want to pop sleeping pills, as I have done in the past. Grrrrr. . . this sucks._________________________________________ all good things are wild and free - Henry David Thoreau

Skyrad 0 #4 April 25, 2004 Is something bugging you or generaly niggling at you? Stop and think about it and if there is try and fix it. Other than that try getting to bed earlier and maybe go for a run in the evenings. skybytch 273 #5 April 25, 2004 I asked the same basic question a while back - here's the thread. Lots of good advice, none of which really worked for me. I'm still up until at least midnight-1 am pretty much every night. Any night I get five or more hours of uninterruped sleep I'm happy about... Hope something in there helps you. wildchild 0 #7 April 25, 2004 I know the feeling. It sucks. I know what my cause is though - always have too much to do (studying, working etc) and no matter what the day of the week my work is never finished. So I sit on here and procrastinate about it instead of go to bed. Hey if you get any real solutions pass them on. Will be great to pass the 4-5hours a night average!____________________________ "If there is doubt, there is no doubt." - Tonto

Yea, and you kept me up way pass my bed time that one night while I was in Florida. I guess I'm just one of the lucky ones. I never have a problem falling asleep or sleeping the whole night. It's just my damn dogs that wake me in the morning, jumping around on the bed saying "Feed me, feed me."May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. SarahC07 0 #9 April 25, 2004 I had issues sleeping recently and I figured out the cause and how to fix it.... I was drinking too much caffiene, so I stopped drinking caffiene after around 1 or 2 pm in the afternoon and that got my butt to sleep... and when that doesn't work, throw in a good 30-40 minutes of exercise(running for me) around 7 or 8 pm to make sure any trace of energy is used... And if that doesn't work... I start reading (looking at the pictures) in "Architectural Digest"... it gets my mind off of whatever I was thinking about and usually makes me sleepy... A luke warm glass of water always seemed to help me as well... Personally, the combination of too much caffiene and me worrying too much was what kept me up... I'm working on fixing both... kallend 2,146 #10 April 25, 2004 I read a boring book and drink Peppermint Schnapps. That usually fixes it.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
BoostedXT 0 #11 April 25, 2004 I am the type of person that once my head hits the pillow my mind starts to think about things. Everything from math problems, ways to fly my body in freefall, way to invest, and just about anything you can think of. My mind wanders and nothing helps me to fall asleep. Too help me fall asleep I sometimes build plastic model kits with very very fine detail. I will write, or I will get up and go for a drive. Try forcing yourself to stay up all night. the next night go to bed at 9:30pm and you will sleep through out the night. Make it a habit to go to bed at 9:30 and get up at 5am. I have noticed my nights of being awake are after a day of sleeping in. peacefuljeffrey 0 #17 April 26, 2004 I am not often plagued with sleeplessness, but I do have memory of some nights when I just tossed and turned, and sometimes came fully awake and couldn't rest again for a long while. Usually the worst sleepless nights I've had were caused by going to sleep with a headache, or developing one during the night. (The latter happens sometimes when it's hot or humid and I develop a sinus headache after spending time tossing and turning trying in vain to get comfortable. I think the headache comes in part from having my face sorta frowned and drawn in from frustration.) Usually if I can't sleep, I get up and get something to drink and something to eat. I simply have a hard time sleeping if I feel at all hungry, so most nights I'm sure to have eaten something within an hour or two of going to sleep. --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... zulu 0 #19 April 26, 2004 Since 91 I have never been able to get a full nights sleep. Im always up after 2-4hours then its WTF. So what I do when I really want to get to sleep, is I run mental drills in my head like picking the first word that comes to mind and try and make as many words as I can from that word, and I do this all in my head with my eyes closed. Eventually after exhausting myself with more advanced drills, I can get about 2 more hours of shut eye. Corny I know but it works for me.
