freeflir29 0 #1 April 28, 2004 If you are a book reader do yourself a favor and pick these two up. The New Iraq by Joseph Braude. Some pretty good insights on Iraqi society. I learned a thing or two. It gets pretty boring in spots but very informative. The other is Nine Minutes, Twenty Seconds by Gary M Pomerantz. If you are a pilot or a frequent airline passenger you will be riveted. I'm only halfway through this but it is an awesome book. Very powerful!
lifewithoutanet 0 #2 April 28, 2004 Thanks. Both look like interesting reading. Clicks: The New Iraq Nine Minutes, Twenty Seconds I just picked up Ghost Wars by Steve Coll. Barely into it, but so far, a pretty good read. Covers US activity in Afghanistan from the end of the Carter Administration to Sept 10th. -C.
AggieDave 6 #3 April 28, 2004 Huh. I went down in a plane about a year ago. It took about 10-20 seconds from the time the engine crapped out till we landed. Wasn't that bad, but then again our pilot is a badass, so we all walked away with out a scratch. The plane didn't fair so well, but thats ok, we got another plane. I do have to say it was pretty exciting. Even more so afterwards, since during the event I didn't really think about what was going on, I knew what happened, I knew what was about to happen, all I could do is sit and hope that it all worked out.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
