Brains 2 #2 April 29, 2004 We damn sure need them down here, you know those rednecks are still using those motorola brick phones, serious blind spot with those. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
Slappie 9 #3 April 29, 2004 I have to agree whole heartedly on this one. I do not use my phone while driving unless there is just no other way to make the call and if so it's extremely fast and to the point. People have been known to get upset with me because I tell them I'm driving and I do not want to talk at that moment. adamsr 0 #4 April 29, 2004 it's been made illegal to drive while using a mobile in the UK now. it was classed as dangerous driving before and you could get pulled for it, but now the police can hand out fines and you can get points on your licence. so no more conversations without hands free kits
Remster 30 #5 April 29, 2004 Quoteso no more conversations without hands free kits Some recent studies show that either hands free or not, the loss of attention while talking on a mobile are about the same. Dont kid yourself, if you talk on the phone (handsfree or not) stop by the side of the road on a safe place.Remster

Yeah i generally do, it's scary when after having a conversation and hanging up you try to remember the road you have just driven along, generally you wont remember much, so phone conversations do take your concentration away from the road. I was just making the point that in the UK it is now illegal to hold a phone against your ear, but it is not against the law to use a phone with a hands free kit. It would be pretty impossible to police anyway, as you can't see people using hands free kits very easily

How is using hands free any different from talking to someone who's in the passenger seat? No one complains about that :) I gots an earpiece, and I can't imagine that it's just as distracting as if I were holding the phone to my head like all you other fools
skycat 0 #10 April 29, 2004 There have been a lot of studies on this, and from one of them if I remember correctly eating in the car is at the top of the list of things not to do while driving. http://www.aaawa.com/traffic_safety/cell_phones.html http://www.ur.ku.edu/News/03N/JuneNews/June24/phonernl.htmlFly it like you stole it!
