anything better than red bull?

Recommended Posts

I was awake most of the night working on a special project. I got about half an hour of sleep.

On sunday through wednesday nights, I averaged about four hours of sleep.

I have now had 16.5 hours of sleep over the last five nights.

I'm sitting at my desk drinking my third red bull of the day.

I'm still falling asleep.

I've tried taking walks around the building, and, while they wake me up a bit while I'm out, as soon as I come back to my cube and sit down, I wanna go to sleep again...

must stay awake for the next five hours... then, I'll be home and can fall into bed and sleep clear through to morning.

Anyone have any stay-awake solutions???? HELP!!!!! Sleeping at work is BAD!

funny- they don't care if I PW, but if I get caught taking a nap, I think I'd be in trouble.

do NOT drink any more red bull... 3 is already too much...

trust me, the caffine will just fuck you up and stop decent sleep when you can finally get it, and you'll just feel worse. :(

unfortuantely, when you've got a real lack of sleep, there isn't much you can do. Drinking lots of water sometimes helps, or grabbing some food. Fresh airs is also handy, but nothing is going to be better than sleep.

If you get a lunch break, try to get your head down for a little bit.

I've tried and tested this method, and after some research (i found it in some real research) 15 mintues of sleep will work to bring you semi back... any less and its not effective, any more and it'll put you into a deepeer sleep and it can make you feel slightly worse. 15 minutes is the magic number, set and alarm or something....

Trust me, i've spent the last 5 years without enough sleep.. its works ;)

I know that the Army Aeromedical Research Lab found a way to keep soldiers awake and able to fight for 4 days straight. Scary stuff. But there's something bomber pilots are given before very long missions based on the same research. Can't think of what it is... I'm sure someone else knows.

Super caffiene - I remember when that was first announced. holy shit. That stuff is scary.

I tried to get my hands on some when I was finishing my dissertation.

Nighingale - just hang in there, but no more red bull. Anymore and you'll have more chemicals in you than a twinkie. Like jp says, chew ice and walk around if you can.

Maharishi University in Iowa claims that their TM practitioners can replace a nights sleep with about ten minutes of good meditation. Of course this will require years of dedication to obtain this ability, but if you're not busy,... wait, why are you so tired again?

Seriously..... chewing on ice works for me when I'm driving. If I'm REAL tired I pull over and sleep.

That's funny! I use ice to keep me awake while on long road trips too!

Only I don't chew it!;):$
