JayhawkJumper 0 #1 April 30, 2004 Nobody happens to have a paper comparing the concepts of church and state in Aquinas and Aristotle's writings do they? No? Ohh, thats ok, its only 2:30, I'm sure I can get something whipped up by 9:30. Why oh why did they have to require western civ philosophy to graduate? Probably to get college kids used to the fact that life sucks and you are going to have to do lots of boring and annoying shit in your life that you wish you didn't have to do. Rebecca 0 #7 April 30, 2004 Aww c'mon. Philosophy's not that bad at all. Actually, it can be kinda fun. Just keep up with the reading, and the rest is cake. I don't care what class you're taking, waiting until you have seven hours to write a paper makes any subject a lot harder than it has to be. I'm writing from experience. Lots and lots of procrastinating experience. you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?
RoysPlayThing 0 #8 April 30, 2004 ummmm.... What did you mean by that?.... What was the real reason for this thread? ... And what kind of church would you be asking about.. 'cause some would say different church's would have different concepts. And if those concepts are different.. Then how do we know which Greek philosopher we should refer to? .... and then it could be philosophy on any subject ... So how do we find these subjects?.. and where exactly do they come from? .... But if you just round it off to most peep's interest, you can just write the paper about any damn Church, and pick lets say..ummm... Alexander the Great as the philosopher.. and kinda go from there. ... Did that answer your question? ... Or were you really asking a question?? ...._______________________________________________ My mind is like a parachute...it functions only when open. (there was a huge debate when I was in college about the western. phil requirement). Actually. probably because it teaches you a method of discourse. I took "western" and "eastern" philosophy in college while being a science major. We read all sorts of works from Plato to Lao Tzu to the Quran (Koran). I came away realizing there's more than one way to skin a cat, or kill a kitten. Writing papers sucks ass tho... Gotta go... plaything needs to spank me Feel the hate... bertusgeert 1 #10 May 2, 2004 HAHAHAHAHA like my dad told me when I told him i was taking philosophy... Philosophy is simply a way for two people to talk useless shit and make it sound intellegent. After just finishing my final paper, I see the truth to his words. I'm with ya man, philosophy sucks bigtime, I'm very glad I'm done!!!! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
Sheenster303 0 #11 May 2, 2004 I'm taking Philosophy right now and my final is on Monday. I need to pass this test to at least get a D in the class. I really don't like it. It was okay at first, but my professor is insane. He's all about talking about aliens and stuff. He freaks me out with that crap. I chose to skip his class more than a couple of times because his voice just gave me a headache. I hope I pass so I never have to take Philosophy again!!!!I'm so funny I crack my head open! Fast 0 #12 May 2, 2004 QuoteDon't say that... I'm thinking about taking Philosophy over the summer... It depends what your professor is like I guess. I had a business ethics class (technically its philosophy) and it was a lot of fun. Sure we had to write a one page paper for every class, but it wasn't that bad. There was never lecture we just discussed things all day. I think that classes are what you make of them and are much better when you like the format that the professor teaches in. I gave up a long time ago on having all classes that I liked though. I guess the desire to graduate made me finally take the courses that I was putting off ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. PhillyKev 0 #13 May 2, 2004 What I want to know is, how the hell do they grade you in philosophy. I mean, how can anyone's ideas be wrong or right?
Fast 0 #14 May 2, 2004 QuoteWhat I want to know is, how the hell do they grade you in philosophy. I mean, how can anyone's ideas be wrong or right? A good professor will grade you on either, ability to understand presented material (like if your trying to learn the works of a historical philosopher) or they wil grade you on the ability to present a logical argument. But then again thats a good professor. One of the ones that I had game me all Ds because I wouldn't agree with what he thought. I dropped that class pretty fast.~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me.
