cocheese 0 #1 April 30, 2004 Well, she's been going to school forever and just got the Master's degree. Addicted to skydiving, yet plans on a lot more school and a career which might not leave much time for jumping. What should she do ?(this post not to be taken seriously without the express written consent of Nightingale and Major League Baseball.) lawrocket 3 #2 April 30, 2004 Do both. Honestly, she'll be weathier during her school years than she will when she gets out. Skydiving will help her out in law school. Many times will she feel like she wants to jump out of a building. She can save it for the weekend with a plane. My wife is hotter than your wife. cocheese 0 #5 May 1, 2004 We really need Ron's opinion on this. Ron, how many jumps are required to "cutaway" ? Not saying i'm going to , but in general......
bbarnhouse 0 #6 May 1, 2004 okay I'll play advocate. First off very few people are able to make a decent living in this business. Some get lucky and get a salary, free jumps and a place to live. Those are few and far in between. Additionally, even fewer are women. Its a better idea to stay in school, pay for recreational jumping or cutaway after one has made their fortune. That way if the fortune gets spent....there is something to fall back on. Just my .
crzjp20 0 #7 May 1, 2004 percisly why i am building my business like crazy right now!! Goal: 10 years be financialy free, and jump like crazy-------------------------------------------------- Fear is not a confession of weakness, it is an oportunity for courage. Ron 10 #8 May 1, 2004 QuoteWe really need Ron's opinion on this. Ron, how many jumps are required to "cutaway" ? Not saying i'm going to , but in general Oh you are killing me. The best answer I think I can give is this. What would she want? I was talking to Joe Trinko (A man that has done a lot and his opinion I trust.) He told me that with his World Meet golds...The only place someone will buy him a beer is at the DZ...And even then not everyone knows who he is, or cares. But if you want it bad enough, its worth it. Now, I know several REALLY good skydivers that are shit poor. And they have nothing set aside for retirement. I know one several time world champ that drives a taxi. I would sugest she read the profiles on the NSL page. Jerome David:BAC scientifique + BA: Law + Sports’ Professor Alan Metni: BA History & B.A. in Government - University of Texas at Austin; MPAff, Masters in Public Affairs - L.B.J. School of Public Affairs J.D., Law Degree - University of Texas at Austin Gary Smith: Bachelor’s degree in commerce, law degree Lise Aune: Business Administration Dan Brodsky-Chenfeld: Ohio State University, graduated with a major in aviation, minor in theater Hell, I'd go to law school. Given the choice of the time and money I have spent in skydiving....If I could I would trade it for a serious college degree. I am now back in school...doing what I should have done 10 years ago. Not to say I have wasted my time. I have enjoyed the ride, but in the end my buddies that went to collage instead of jumping like hell...They are now making more, and can do more than me. Just my opinion....I by no means no more about life than anyone else. and hell...you asked"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,
RoadRash 0 #9 May 1, 2004 The answer Ron gave was the same answer I got when I had the hair-brained idea to quit school and skydive full time......That is why I am going to finish school so that I have something to fall back on and make small goals in skydiving for the time being... ~R+R...Sounds like a plan...~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~... In fact, the tallest American building west of the Mississippi is less than a mile away. Who would question the law student with the big backpack? Law students ALWAYS have big backpacks! skybytch 273 #14 May 1, 2004 You people are far too responsible and upstanding. Are you sure you're really skydivers? There is only one correct answer to this question. She should sell everything except her gear, buy a vehicle she can sleep in, move to a dropzone (any dropzone) and do whatever it takes to pay for jumps and food. Doing anything else would be selling out.
