skymama 37 #1 May 5, 2004 She just called me from the mall. She had to spill the beans about my Mother's Day present because she couldn't decide which style to get. She's buying me a new belly ring because she's so bored with the other one. I wonder how many other moms will be getting new belly rings for Mother's Day. Now I just have to figure out how to put it in myself. Any pointers? She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
Nightingale 0 #2 May 5, 2004 is the original piercing healed? if so, just use pliers to open the bead, put a little bit of neosporin on the top, and rotate it out through the bottom. just insert the other ring, and close with the pliers. or, the easiest solution: go down to your local piercer, and give them five bucks to do it for you. I change mine out myself fairly regularly. some people don't like to do it. if there's any doubt in your mind as to whether or not its healed, let a piercer do it for you. skymama 37 #5 May 5, 2004 Oh yeah, it's healed. I've had it for 2 1/2 years. I just haven't changed it out myself before. There's a lot more skin there between the holes compared to an ear piercing. I was just thinking I'd get it in one end and not be able to find the other end. Is it better to do it while lying down or standing up? I wonder what she's going to get. I talked her out of dangly ones with butterfiles, dragonfiles or frogs. Then she said, "I know which one I'll get!" and hung up. I hope I like it or she'll be crushed! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
skymama 37 #6 May 5, 2004 QuoteI'll do it for $2 Thanks, Remi. Buy my plane ticket to Canada for you to do it, and I'll give you your $2. If you do it well, I'll even give you a tip. Nightingale 0 #8 May 5, 2004 doesn't much matter whether you're lying down or standing... some people get a little dizzy, though, especially if you manage to bump a nerve. I'd lie down for the first attempt. if you've had it 2.5 years, you won't have a problem finding the other end of the piercing. the skin heals through it into a tube, just like an ear piercing. just put a lot of neosporin on the hole and on the ring, before you slide it through. Paige 0 #9 May 5, 2004 If the original one is healed, up some neosporin on before you take out the jewerly. It will make the removal much easier; some people's bodies like to hold onto the jewerly. Then with the new belly button ring/barbell put another dab of neosporin on the new jewerly and slide it through the hole, screw on/pop in bead. All else fails, go to local piercer and have them do it. Most won't charge at all but would appreciate a tip if that is the case. Most places that charge only get ya for $5 or so. tigra 0 #17 May 6, 2004 Too funny! I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't figure out how to remove a belly ring! I broke my ankle in November and had NO IDEA how to get it out for the surgery! It was so embarrassing, and even the nurse had no clue. She asked around and another nurse told her how to do it. (She used two pair of hemostats, one one either side of the ball and it came right off!)
Brains 2 #18 May 6, 2004 Quoteahhh.... there I go... my new peircing business is starting off! Hmmm, just think Remi, you might have people coming in to get piercings like mine That should cure your thoughts on starting that business. Andrea, listen to all the other advice given. I change mine all the time, no big deal. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
