mac266 0 #1 June 1, 2010 As a new skydiver, I'm just getting started with gear purchases. I'm looking at the Benny because of its rather low price. What are your thoughts on this helmet? When I was into stock car racing, they used to poo-poo on the cheaper helmets - the saying was, "A $100 helmet for a $100 head. How much is your head worth?" OTOH, I think a skydiving helmet will really only protect you if you whack the aircraft on exit, or have a rough landing. If you have a major malfunction, it's not going to save you anyway. So what are your thoughts? Also, from looking on their web site I can't tell the difference between the "black" color and the "stealth" color they offer. Can you try to explain the difference to me? Thanks!
skycamefalling 0 #2 June 1, 2010 Thats why you cant tell the difference.......cuz it is "stealth"!!! From what I have heard, the Benny helmet and the Protec helmets are pretty good helmets for the price. I went thru Chutingstar and got the Cookie Ozone and love it. It is really comfy, gives good forehead protection and has a really good snug fit.......or maybe it is cuz my head is to big and I got the wrong size?? Speedracer~I predict that Michael Jackson will rise from the dead. And that a giant radioactive duck will emerge from the ocean and eat Baltimore. dragon2 2 #3 June 1, 2010 In skydiving, the cheaper helmets are often the best ones, protection-wise. If you're doing FS you may want fullface protection, and for a camera helmet there are other choices, but Pro-tecs and Bennies and the like are good if not the best choices for newbie jumpers, swoopers, CRW etc alike. ciel bleu, Saskia

Thanks! Black is glossy, stealth is flat. I bought the stealth. Nice helmet. Give you better protection than most carbon fiber helmets and you cant beat the price. Good looking helmet too (IMO) Not sure why they are better for new jumpers. Does your skull get tougher when you have over a thousand jumps? I see no reason this would not be a good helmet for anyone regardless of experience.__ My mighty steed
