How much does it cost to get to altitude?

There is a reason I am posting this - A friend of mine recently told me how much she paid for thier altitude tix - $22 - that in itself is not THAT bad - still the highest I have heard of - but not UNREASONABLE. What made me step back is the reason WHY they are so expensive. Gimme a break! It wasn't the fault of the other jumpers there - Why punish them?

I'm not goin to mention names or places. :):)

with today's exchange rate, we pay $21.29USD for a ride to 10500 in our 182.

Yeah - but that's Canada for ya, eh. Hell, even cigarettes cast 7.50 per pack there - verses 3.25 here.

Not bashing Canada - (This Time) :P

You can get the same weather and temperature, and still pay more at (The place I'm talking about)

$5 to get on the Plane and $1 for every 1k of altitude (AGL)

I loved Lodi's Prices though! $15 Can't wait tell I can take a couple weeks off to see my daughter instead of a couple days and get some real jumps in there!

$7.50? where are you shopping? prices range from $9.00 to $10.99, depending on where you buy them... $7.50 in US$$ maybe...

The airport - I was being conservative - (go figure)

My point is that if, with few exceptions, you can get to altitude for "X" amount in Canada - I'd be willing to bet that you could afford it here in the US - ANYWHERE in the US. Oh and - that is if you don't have to "chip in" for other things.

Have you honestly looked at the price of fuel lately? Then you have to look at what it costs to run the place, pay for the pilot, staff etc. cost of course being relative to location.
13,000 here will cost you $19.00 as of May 14.

Yes, yes I have seen that - I also saw a forwarded "letter" that stated why -

Like I said - It wasn't the jumpers fault - so why punish them?

Voluntary is good - mandatory is NEVER a good option, unless it is life threatening or harmful to others.

$15 bucks to altitude in our super duper otter at Skydive Houston. BOOYEAH! B|

And I was there and got to ride that nice Otter. One complaint, it was a tad crowded. Next time instead of having five or six of us on a load, can we cut it back?

From what I understand (correct me if I'm wrong), but it is apparently harder on the planes and more expensive to run when starting at 5K and climbing up to 12.5K than from sea level to 12.5K:S

Also, when a dz is open year round, they keep the planes flying and the revenue coming in; however at seasonal dzs, on non-jumpable days (winter), the rent and bills still have to be paid.

Sea level..here I come!B| Whaaa Hoo!
