It really irritates me to see all these Lincoln Navigators and Cadillac SUVs clogging the streets of Chicago, when I know damn well the farthest they ever get driven "off-road" is to go through the car wash.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. If you wait a bit, you'll be able to pick up a mid-size hybrid SUV (if you liked the SUV form factor.) The Ford Escape is sorta small but Toyota is coming out with a hybrid Highlander. One of the pluses of these vehicles is that they are both heavier and have a lower CG than ordinary SUV's due to the battery pack - thus you get the perceived benefit of greater weight and a vehicle less likely to roll than the average topheavy SUV. Have you driven the BMW or Lexus? SWEEEEET !! Just came home from a test drive of the BMW 545i with the 6 Speed Sequential Manuel Gearbox. and Active Roll Stabilization. I thought the saleswoman was going to piss her pants when I swung that baby into a curve at 85mph. She kept saying "I hope you don't get a ticket" trying to get me to slow down.[email] All that power and handling and 26 mpg to boot. Yeeehaw. Gonna take the Lexus out for a spin tomorrow and then decide. Just doing my part to conserve.
