ozthebum 0 #3 May 17, 2004 I thought it looks good, but then again I liked "Lost in Translation", so maybe I'm weird.
peacefuljeffrey 0 #4 May 17, 2004 Would there be something wrong with doing the same thing without the need for cigarettes? How dopey and pathetic that they find they can't relax and talk without inhaling toxic stinking smoke. Coffee is another laughable thing to me. In my office, I go into the break room and have my dinner and there invariably comes someone to get themselves some coffee. They almost never come in, find coffee, take some, drink some, and go "Ahhh, good!" No, in 9 out of 10 cases, either coffee is not made, and they gripe about having to do it; or it is cold; or it is old; or it is weak; or it is generally just cruddy -- maybe not a brand they think is good. I have never opened a can of PEPSI, taken a drink from it, and said, "Ew, this isn't nearly as good as the last can I opened!" I never reached into the fridge, grabbed a can of Pepsi, and opened it to find that there was only a little left, and it was thick, stale and bad-tasting. Nor has the same ever happened with a carton of orange juice, a bottle of apple juice. Seltzer is the only iffy one: you can't expect it to be good for more than about a 24 hour period. But I don't know why people allow themselves to get hooked on coffee, when everyone knows how rare decent coffee apparently is. No one ever seems satisfied by it! (And I have never perceived this "kick" that people supposedly get from it. I think it's all psychosomatic.) How about "Cheese and crackers and Pepsi" instead? --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
Peej 0 #5 May 17, 2004 Wierd? No. Cultured and intelligent? Hell yes. Dude, i loved Lost in Translation, it was a great film. It was shot really well and nicely acted - people often forget that art films are called "art" for a reason. As for coffe and cigarettes - i think it looks really cool.
