Movie review: Troy

Good flick, even if you have to see Brad Pitts' ass all the damn time.

Its a chick flick love story with a lot of violence and graphic war scenes, so win win for both folks in the couple.;):PB|:P

That's the only reason why I'd go to see it. :P

As a man, I must say I feel used and degraded by your comment.

Unacceptable.:P

As Brad Pitt's ass, I'm honored.

Decent flick, they removed almost all use of the gods and made Achilles into an introspective hero. In Greek mythology heros just "were" and played out their role. They've changed a few things about some of the characters, and IIRC, the Trojan Horse was actually in the Aeneid not the Odyssey.

Most of Brad Pitt's character development was done by having him stand in front of the camera and showing off his body. When you realize that he has the majority of the screen time in a movie that is nearly 3 hours long, you get quite bored of that.

Peter O'Toole steals the entire movie with just one scene.

Eric Bana couldn't act his way out of a box and is following the Tom Cruise method of acting: stare at the camera and pretend you are constipated. I hope to never see him in a movie again.

Orlando Bloom's Paris is a combination of Legolas (archer) and his love lorn ways of "Pirates."

They do almost nothing with Helen the entire movie - the intorduce her and show her on screen maybe three more times.

This movie was an hour too long and surprisingly dry. There was really no character in the movie that was given enough development for an audience to really care about or identify with.

If your definition of a great movie is pretty people, mediocre acting, and good special effects, you should love this movie.

I said "decent" movie, not great. BTW - I thought the special FX were not that great. The sets were well done, however.

seems to be the trend in modern movie making... LOTR pretty much ignored the fact it was supposed to be a sword and sorcery flick and put waaaaaay to much time trying to 'humanize' all the characters.. a good flick, but really lacking from its source material..

Troy falls in the same category..simply beautiful, but lacking the depth and subtleties of meaning found in the original source.

Haven't seen the movie, but I though the ancient greeks rode horses mainly and most were foot soldiers anyway.

I had no idea they also rode donkeys.....
