Slappie 9 #1 April 29, 2004 DENTIST!! I have an appt today. It's been so long (read: 5 years) since I went, I'm probably going to send my dentist on a world cruise when he's done with my mouth. Been needing to go for awhile. I'm not that happy with my smile or the looks of my teeth. So I finally broke down and decided to get them looked at again and see what I can afford to do. I already know I have both my bottom wisdom teeth impacted, they need to be removed. Both my front teeth are dead from a hockey high sticking when I was 12 so they both probably need to come out and get a bridge. Their discolored but not from lack of care, just dead and to muck coffee and stuff.. I'm sure I've given a wonderful picture of my teeth now. They aren't that bad, I mean their not rotting or anything. Just major shit I gota take care of and if I dont want to be in falsies when I'm 45 I better do something now. Just going for x-rays and a cleaning today. I hope.. I'm so deathly afraid of the dentist. Had very very bad experiences with a bad one when I was a child. Probably why I shy away for so long at a time "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." Brains 2 #2 April 29, 2004 Hey slapp, look into sedation dentistry. They will give you the good drugs, then take care of all of it at one time and you don't feel a thing. Or you could pm blueskidave, (local jumper and dentist) and then drive all the way to Fredericksburg and get it taken care of. Personally i would look into the first option. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
Slappie 9 #3 April 29, 2004 Oh I wont let them drill, clean or anything uless I'm out of it. Seriously I had some bad experiences with a dentist. I had to have a root canal on one of my front teeth and it was just bad, real bad. Since then I've been extremely afraid to ever go back. Most of the time I'll go get some antibiotics and never return. Let them tell me everything I need to take care of then just payum and leave. I have really good dental insurance, so the GF finally taked me into getting a through checkup. That an one of my front teeth has become loose and is painful. Just happens to be the one that needed a root canal when I was 12. I got smacked directly in the face with a hockey stick, broke one of my teeth at the root just killed the other one. The dentist did a root canal and inserted a metal rod to hold the broken one together. Since then the root in the gumline has been absorded and gets absess once every 2 or 3 years. Welp it's one of those years "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." Now if I could find that and one that served shots of Patron or Jager... hmmm... I'd probably make up reason to go to the dentist "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." Slappie 9 #9 April 29, 2004 I just thought of something... I think I like dentists as much as I like wrecker drivers.. That's not very much "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." DrunkMonkey 0 #10 April 29, 2004 Slappie: There are these dentists that specialize in this program where they take folks who haven't seen DDS's in quite awhile. They put you out cold for several hours, and correct EVERYTHING that's gone wrong in the past few years in 1-2 office calls, instead of multiple visits. Dunno what they're called, tho... Just a thought.
Bosveld 0 #11 April 29, 2004 My last visit to the dentist was GREAT! I didn't go to the usual old fart, in stead there was a young blond fresh from varsity who helped me. Ok, she wasn't topless, but she was blessed and her top was pretty tight. While she was working on me, her nipple was lodged in my ear. She hurt me way more than the normal guy, but for some reason, I didn't care too much that day. Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, will be true! Setting up the appt with the oral surgeons now. Having my wisdom teeth removed was one of the best experiences I've ever had. First they gave me gas to distract me from the needle going in my arm so I took full advantage of that, then he gave me a steroid shot (so I wouldn't swell up so much). and at the end I got some really good pain pills. It was only a weeks worth but, from what I remember, it was a good week. The only thing really kinda sucked was after I woke up and very talkative and apparently embarrassed the nurse and I was starving and wanted a hamburger but couldn't chew so a week of mush and liquids kinda was a bummer but other than that it was a wonderful experience. Good luck Slappie. JudyBe kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
skydiver30960 0 #15 May 18, 2004 I just got back from my appt. and I'm pissed. I've always been a real "if it ain't broke don't fix it" kind of guy... So it pisses me off when the dentist says "look I know you aren't in any pain, but I can see something in here that we need to take care of." Well, OK. And it really pisses me off when the dentist says "look I know you aren't in any pain, AND I can't see it with my eyes, but the x-ray says there's something in here that we need to take care of." Dammit. But here's a new one on me (first trip to this particular dentist): "look I know you aren't in any pain, AND I can't see it with my eyes, AND it doesn't show up on the x-ray, but we have this new laser pointer thingy that we put on your tooth and it tells us if you have a cavity, so we need to get it taken care of." ... WTF!!!! It's like "hey we know you're only 30 and in perfect health, but we're going to go ahead and do a double hip replacement on you because we have a dohickey that says you'll need them done when you turn 75, so we may as well get it over with." Slappie 9 #16 May 18, 2004 This is a thread I was just fixing it bump. I'm in the process of scheduling my appt to have my wisdom teeth jerked out. Can't afford everything they want to do. Insurance if ok, but this surgery will max my benefits for the year. Oh well seems one visit for a checkup is going to cost me about 3 years of treatment and a small fortune I can't afford. Probably shoulda just let the fuckers rot out of my head. Would have had some really ugly teeth, but I'd have money in my pocket "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them."
