All employees at McNair Middle School were informed Thursday that they will not have a job in the fall.

According to school system spokesman Spencer Ragsdale, all positions at McNair Middle, from the janitor to the principal, are now open. The district is accepting applications for replacements.

Ragsdale said the move to fire the entire school staff is part of a comprehensive review by the DeKalb County School District. The school is located at 2190 Wallingford Drive in Decatur.

My Mother-in-law is a teacher at a school and she has to re-apply for her job this year but is "guaranteed" a job because they have a signed contract.

We had a problem in the city schools where gym teachers are teaching algebra, and so on.

A new superintendent was hired and she is basically cleaning house and putting teachers where they should be and cleaning out some of the uncertified teacher which included a bunch.

Explanation? my guess there was a "new sheriff" in town who wanted to clean house. The good old boys/girls said if one of us goes we all go.

Lesson learned: never think your irreplaceable and don't bet any more than you can afford to lose because someone might call your bluff.

IMO The quote from the schools websight sounds like CCP. (cut copy paste).

By the way, they updated the story to say that they can re-apply for their jobs. So it's not as strange as it first appeared. But someone still must have been seriously pissed off at this school.
