yes
My ISP is upgrading their cable modems at the moment, although nothing has been advertised yet. The upgrade allows a speed of 5 mps compaired to 3 mps that is currently the norm. And early reviews from people who have made the upgrade is that they are getting the advertised speed. Upstream has been reported to be between 612 kbps, up to 800 kbps. :)I better call them tomorrow, hope they've made my area DOCSIS ready.

You know, if it was problem free, I'd dust off my old 288 modem and use that.

I have 1.5 megabit downstream and 384 kbs upstream DSL. Had it for 4 years and its gone down maybe twice for an hour or two each time.
Rock solid and I run all my own web servers and e-mail systems. I have 3 static IP addresses, blah blah blah.

I'll stick with mine, cable companies cause trouble for guys like me especially with regard to IPSEC connections...

For the average guy, Cable is problably easier to deal with, though and you can download faster.
I dunno what that really means though. I download about 10 gigs a month of stuff from binary usenet newsgroups and I've never had any speed problems with 1.5 megabit.
Takes 60-90 minutes to download a 650 MB ISO image. How fast does it really have to be?
Doubling or even tripling that performance isnt gonna enhance my quality of life any :-)

Now more jumps. That'll do it!
