If someone does that the rig could disappear now. Put something like $20,000 on it so you won't get sniped at the last minute. That way you are at least guaranteed to get his address. The bid will only go up to the reserve no matter what your max bid. Since the seller wont get to see your max bid you don't risk tipping the guy off. It wouldn't be that unusual to have someone bid just to outbid the reserve.
