Here's why..... - Smarty Jones was the first horse to win the derby with an undefeated record since Seattle Slew. - Both had awkward running styles. - Neither had the stature of many other famous horses. - Both were 6-0 going into the derby. - Neither came from a prestigeous bloodline. - Both were branded as mere sprinters. Seattle Slew's great-grandson (Zee Slew) is at my moms house for a couple years for boarding. Awesome horse and great with my kids. My 6 year old even rides him.
