lawrocket 3 #1 May 27, 2004 My wife and I have turned a page on our life and moved on to the next. It feels good to say, "We don't need it." We have a potential client who is somewhat strange. Her boyfriend is stranger. But, the boyfriend has the money. Boyfriend gave us a check for $3,500.00 yesterday. This morning, there are two messages on the voicemail from him instructing us what to do, and how to do our jobs. This dude is not the client, so he's got no business telling us what we can and cannot review for documents (i.e., what are they hiding). So I called him and told him that while he may be financing this case, he's got no say at all in how it goes and I don't want to hear from anyone but the client. He said, "Well, she does what I tell her to to anyway, so ask her and I'll tell her what she should do." So I say, "SEEYA!" They'll be by to take back their $3,500 check. What feels so good? Knowing that we don't need that $3,500, and that I'd rather give it back than deal with them. I believe that my wife and I are finally starting to do well when we can turn that money away. And I feel human again... My wife is hotter than your wife.

slug 1 #3 May 27, 2004 Lawrocket I've had a few dealings with lawyers. Once working for the feds a lawyer got his hooks into a sewer district. The feds were paying 90% of the bill. We got the lawyers bill couldn't understand it asked for a clarification the lawyer responded we still couldn't understand the bill or the explanation but did notice a additional charge for the clarification. We never asked another question. We had a guy at work who's wife was divorcing him because he was a contol freak and very detailed, everytime he called his lawyer making corrections to the lawyers paperwork, The client paid additional money. Minimum billing 15 minute unit's. I just did a quick read of your message but IMO sounds like a great client if they got deep pockets. But you might be a ethical lawyer so congrats on your freedom. IMO $3500 minus your time to date would be reasonable. R.I.P.
