Peej 0 #2 May 28, 2004 You're going to have the time of your life dude! I spent 3 months in Thailand and Laos over December/January/February of '99/'00. What a blast. I did Bangkok and then headed North to Chiang Mai and Chaing Rai. They're awesome! If you get the chance try to head to a little town called Pai, it's not far from Chiang Mai and is one of the most incredible places i have ever been. From there i crossed the border into Laos for New Year and then headed South to the Islands for two months. The experience changed my life. I met and travelled with people from Canada, Germany, Israel, Australia and Argentina - most of whom i'm still in contact with. I didn't skydive when i was there but i've heard there's a drop zone in Pattaya, one of the commercial tourist traps in the South. Last i saw it was listed in the DZ's section here. Check it out. All the best man, i wish with all my heart that i could go back! The people are amazing, the food is unbelievable and the place on the whole is magic. blue skies PJ Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky
piisfish 140 #3 May 28, 2004 the north is beautiful, very friendly people in Chiang Mai. I was there just for a night, hardly went back to my hotel... ended in a karaoke bar and I sang in Thai.... As Peej said, AFAIK only skydiving in Pattaya... Such a pity... They have some jumpships in the country though, a few Porters and a couple of C-130... but a C130 might be to big for a solo jump scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
schwede 0 #4 May 28, 2004 Correct, only private skydiving possibility is in Pattya. They are reorganising themselves and will bring a Cessna 182 to the DZ. Talk to Partick at the Belgian Restaurant in pattaya (have a webpage too) and he will inform you further about the developement. Then I think that ESA is going for Thailand our Southest asia again for a boogie in Feb/march next year. Then you can always hook up with the band who goes to Indionesia/Bali for skydiving....http://skydiveasia.org/ look at the forum for more info.. Best of luck and enjoy the land of smiles.Schwede "Das Leben ist schön, nicht immer aber immer öfter"
TheAnvil 0 #5 May 28, 2004 I've been to Chiang Mai! Love the place. It's just fantastic. Been to Thailand quite a bit and LOVE it! Things not to miss: - Ayuthaya (just north of Bangkok). - Wat Phrae Kow (in Bangkok) - kickboxing (the real stuff; not the tourist shyte) - Ko Phuket (Stay in Kata or Rata and NOT Patong) - Ko Phi Phi - Krabi - diving at Richelieu Rock (take boat from Phuket) Dear Lord. There are so many cool things to do there. I'm jealous. Sawatdee krap, Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
