towerrat 0 #1 June 2, 2004 Sunday night I fell off of my kid's go-cart and completely crushed my wrist. The surgeon wants to install some external rigging ( read: erector set ) on my wrist and hand for a couple of months. I'm going to seek a second oppinion today, but am curious if anyone here has any experience with this type of injury and how did it turn out. The doctor said my wrist looks like " a bag of broken bones "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
JayhawkJumper 0 #2 June 2, 2004 I fell on roller blades when I was a kid and crushed my wrist right next to the growth plate, which is bad. My local doctor set the wrist, then I had it checked by an orthopedic surgeon who said my local doc did a good job and it healed up just fine. I didn't have an erector set on the arm, but I did have a cast all the way up my arm.

Hope you heal well and quickly
 slug 1 #5 June 2, 2004 I got a second opinion for a broken ankle, first doc wanted to pin it. Second doc (VA) said looks good. First doc put temp full leg cast VA took x-ray thru temp cast and said come back for x rays every two weeks. So we had two opposite opinions. I asked the VA dr how do I decide wchich opinion to go with Dr's place in graduating class? His response was whoever you have confidence with. No insurance the VA was free I went with the ("Temp full leg cast and no pin). No Problems. I'm not a Dr but I think there are a lot more bones in the wrist than the ankle. Some Dr's are more conservative than other's. What's your plan if your second opinion is different than the first, go for a third opinion and then go with the majority? I don't know how big your town is or how much time you got. Can you ask around and find the best wrist guy there is? Don't forget your own copy of the x-rays and pic's we want to lookie R.I.P. PS Did you hurt the kids go cart, stay away from that stuff. It could have been a lot worse.
 turtlespeed 226 #6 June 2, 2004 Doode!
